Ridiculed. Lampooned. Denigrated. That was the reaction that Dinesh D'Souza got upon launching his thesis about President Obama's mindset in his 2010 Forbes article, "How Obama Thinks." He argued in effect that president Obama's mindset was locked and loaded with the blame-colonialism doctrine that is still alive and well in post-colonial Asia and Africa.
The critical reaction came from political analysts from both sides of the political aisle. For example, Daniel Larison of The American Conservative claimed that D'Souza "has authored what may possibly be the most ridiculous piece of Obama analysis yet." Andrew Ferguson of The Weekly Standard claimed that D'Souza stupidly thinks absence of evidence against his thesis is evidence for his thesis. Moreover, most commentators jumped on the general futility of attempts to ascertain what is really going on in someone else's mind.
D'Souza certainly opened himself up to this latter line of criticism by mixing the blame-colonialism thesis with his tenuous claim that the President is trying to live out his father's dreams.
",.. [O]ur President is trapped in his father's time machine. Incredibly, the U.S. is being ruled according to the dreams of a Luo tribesman of the 1950s. This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anticolonial ambitions, is now setting the nation's agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son. The son makes it happen, but he candidly admits he is only living out his father's dream. The invisible father provides the inspiration, and the son dutifully gets the job done. America today is governed by a ghost."
But it is quite possible to separate the two entangled claims -- to decouple the admittedly flimsy father-fulfillment thesis from the blame-colonialism mindset thesis.

And not Republican speaks on Dinesh’s behalf.
Yeah, he hit a nerve.
That’s why the regime is after him and not any of the DemonRAT politicians who have done far worse that what he is being accused of, and probably falsely at that. Even if he is acquitted, unlikely given that the courts and the media are almost 100% pro-regime, the damage will have been done, D’Souza will be destroyed.
Yet a John Edwards donor was charged with lesser charges. Strange.
I remember reading D’Sousa’s article at the time of its publication, and I remember it making perfect sense!
Obama is not gaining any momentum on a moral scale.
I used that very defense when pulled over on an deserted stretch of I-84 between Hartford and the Massachusetts state line. It was 4 AM. The air was crisp, just hovering around the freezing mark, and the sky was full of stars. The cop asked me why I was doing 87 in a 65 zone. I told him it was a good road on a clear night. He let me go.
I don’t get the quivering terror of every pub over the MSM calling them “RACIST!” but it is the ball and chain that controls every movement of the republican party, negating the freedom of speech that was so traditionally the American culture.
Because this man is right and every pub is terrified to say anything about it. Obama is a racist black colonialist and no one will even breathe a word of it, because the IRS and/or justice dept just might come after you - 1984 is very, very close. The corruption of the times is frightening.
I believe D’Souza apologized, so not much doubt in his guilt.
“Above all else, the Devil cannot stand to be mocked.”
Did D’Souza Hit a Nerve?
- Does the lion sleep at night?
- Does a bear take his Obama in the woods?
- Is Eric Holder a racist?
- Is Valerie Jarrett the woman behind the curtain?
- Is Hillary Clinton a crook, a liar and an incompetent twit?

Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.” No. 12...” RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.” Looks like D’Souza has been chosen.
Ted Cruz did, but CBS edited it out.
Of course he hit a nerve.
The only real problem is that he didn’t hit that nerve hard enough or as wide spread as he could have.
I really wish that MORE Americans had taken the time to watch his documentary.
