So much for being the most expensive Super Bowl ever.
With ticket prices in a freefall, seats for Sundays MetLife Stadium matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos could end up being the least expensive for a Super Bowl since the post-9/11 game of 2002.
After hitting record highs last week, ticket prices took a nose dive over the weekend, with the cheapest prices plummeting nearly 50 percent, to a low of $1,150 from about $2,200 at 9 a.m. on Jan. 19.

Season ticket holders get them for $800 apiece.
Anyone who opposes a cold weather Super Bowl is NOT a football fan, but a fan of cheesey and sleazy halftime shows and the spectacle of the “big game”.
Were all the playoff games Ditka coached at Soldier Field “stupid”? Should they have moved those to Miami, Honolulu or Rio?
$2000 for a football ticket?! LOL
in New York during the winter? ROFLMAO
Super Bowl XLVIII has been declared a level one national security event. Part of that security is to examine every item that is being brought in for Sunday’s big game.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents will work around the clock to X-ray every delivery truck and any other vehicle authorized to enter the MetLife Stadium complex for anything suspicious.
Agents will be looking for smugglers, narcotics, terror activity, and more potential threats.
Throughout Super Bowl week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will use HCV Mobile Scanning trucks to examine vehicles.
Boy that sure sounds like a lot of fun added to freezing, overpriced tickets and wasted hours trying to get there.
My fun will be at home, great seats and warm.
Ditka’s right. This game should be played in Tampa - every year...forever.
“The Bears Still Suck song has been around forever and it is nothing personal.”
No, never heard of it. Will try to look it up though, to educate myself, although the 85 Bears never sucked, in spite of any song.
And it does not disappear in four hours. Also enough change left over for snacks.
P.T. Barnum was right.
Don’t know if the link will work here, but ticketmaster sent me an email advertising superbowl tix.
$1620 for nosebleeds, $25,500 for front row, center.
“TV pics of the Meadowlands look like Moscow in the depths of winter. Whoever thought this was a great idea should be fired.”
I think they let Al Gore do the choosing. He probably thought it would be in the 90’s by now.
Very interesting post.
On a BUS? Not for the Manhattan crowd, LOL.
Too bad my Pats didn't make it. It would have been a home game, with these unsold tickets being snapped up by Pats fans.
I'm shocked that the game hasn't sold out yet. Seattle fans seem very dedicated. I'm not too surprised by the Denver fans no showing up. Either way, the economy must really suck.
It makes sense..what’s to prevent a limo loaded with explosives from driving right up to the arena..they’d have to search them all off site..makes more sense just to bar them from proximity to the stadium..but the NYC limosine liberals won’t stand ( or rather, sit, )for that
The tickets have been sold out for a long time.
What is referred to in these articles is the scalpers inventory.
What about the stupidity of building that stadium in New Jersey without a roof!!!
It was written by a Bears fan!!!
For what this costs why should they?
I notice from most of the posts on this thread there is a lot of jealousy toward those fortunate enough to be able to afford to attend the game.
Seems many here even if they could easily afford to fly on a G5 say they would still fly commercial with a TSA groping but we all really know that isn't true.
Let's face it, most folks on here aren't one percenters. And most of the 50 percenters are out working their @sses off to get to that point.
$1150.00? Thank you so much! Now all us regular fans still can’t afford it.
Oh, I completely agree.
I however find the “a fool and his money are soon parted” comments petty jealousy as the one percenters can afford to drop 10k easier than most of us can afford to rent a movie.
This is because neither are they fools or will be parted from their money.
