DETROIT (WWJ) - A 23-year-old man has been arraigned on torture and attempted rape charges following an attack on a Detroit woman who he allegedly burned with a blow torch.
Roderick Neely was arraigned Saturday and ordered held without bond pending his next court date. Neely also is charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to maim, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felon in possession and felony firearm.
The charges stem from a incident that happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday in a blighted neighborhood near Plymouth and Meyers on the citys west side. The 43-year-old victim told police she was leaving a gas station when a man came up behind her, put a gun to her head and forced her into a car. The woman said her attacker drove for a short time before parking the car. He then allegedly ripped off her clothing and began burning her with a blow torch.
Police said the victim was able to escape and call for help after stabbing her attacker in the eye with a screwdriver. She remains hospitalized in stable condition.
It was the victims unwavering desire to survive that gave her the strength to overcome her attacker. Throughout the investigative process, the victim remained steadfast in her sense of duty to ensure that this criminal was taken off the streets, ending his reign of terror for all women in and around the city of Detroit, police said in a statement.

That’s a little unusual. Just let me say I’ve heard and read of far, far worse.

Evil is certainly not on the decline.

They should just give him a colonic with a lit road flare.
Shucks, I thought for sure he was a Cambodian guy.
Nail him spread eagle to a big X first and make sure his legs are spread wide for easy access front and back. Then give these ladies a million dollar bonus if they can make him scream for 12 hours.
This monster needs to die, but very slowly.
sexual sadist. Needs to be off the streets for life.
Info for those who may not be aware - Newer cars must have an escape latch inside the trunk. I don't know when it started but my cars are 2005 and 2011 and both have the escape latch.
I have locked my children and grand children in the trunk (one at a time) after showing them the opener on the inside and had them unlock it themselves. Not one of them had a problem getting out.
I also cautioned them that different cars might be slightly different but it's there and to not jump out of a car that's fast moving - wait until it is going slowly or stopped at a stop sign, then jump and run like your life depended on it.
Then I pray they will never have need of the knowledge I gave them.
"What now? Well let me tell you what now. I'm gonna call a couple pipe-hittin' $#@!s, who'll go to work on holmes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. Hear me talkin' hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'm gonna git Medieval on your ass."
