Video of a police standoff contradicts the initial Pinal County Sheriff's Office description of the chain of events that led to the shooting death of a suspected car thief. The man had led police and sheriff's deputies on a chase through Casa Grande and Eloy for nearly an hour, before deputies immobilized the car he was driving.
A witness shot the video on a cell phone. It shows the final moments of the standoff, when deputies were ordering Manuel Longoria to surrender. The deputies had their weapons drawn and fired five bean bag rounds at the suspect, in addition to Taser rounds.
Longoria appeared to be moving his arms around, and did not appear to be cooperating with the deputies. Seconds later, the video shows Longoria turn his back on the deputies and raise both hands into the air, high over his head. One second later, a lone deputy fired two shots, killing Longoria.

Policestate ping
Sounds a lot like “Suicide by Cop”.
But there are a lot of other factors in the incident I believe.
The guy sounds like a Bag Dog.
Cops fire two shots into him AFTER he raises his hands over his head in a surrender posture. Incredible.
Turning away from a badgemonkey and raising hands in the air
is UNIVERSAL SIGN OF SURRENDER. There is NO DOUBT that the
trigger happy thug committed a felony. The only question being whether he should be charged with murder 2 or voluntary manslaughter. And if he was foolish enough to utter into a microphone that he was gonna kill, mess up or otherwise inflict summary judgement on the victim for having the nerve to flee the charge should be murder 1.
Instead the chickensh*t DA rubber stamps yet another instance of legal murder by the chosen ones. If that
was my child murdered on the street, justice....my idea
of justice...WOULD BE SERVED. Since the system won’t
provide justice anymore it has fallen to the citizenry
to mete it out.
Was not suicide by cop. Cops would have been justified in shooting when he headed into car. When he put his hands up getting ready to place them on the car the shooting was not justified at all.
Yeah....raising your hands in the air is sort of the universal gesture of “I surrender”.
Righteous shoot ping.
Bag —> BAD
She apparently didn't know that getting the police involved might be a death sentence in today's America.
Sounds a lot like Suicide by Cop.
Well, just before he was shot in the back twice, he did decide to start co-operating, raised his hands, turned his back on the police and started to "assume the position" on his car.
Of course, by that time he had already disrespected their AUTHORITAY, and the howling pack of jackboot lawdogs were in full cry.
His bad luck...
A DA can indict a ham sandwich, but never a cop.
That looks like a bad shoot. The guy clearly had raised his hands hands high above his head, and he was up against the side of the car.
I don’t know all the facts, or the whole story; and that will come out in the investigation. But from what little can be gleaned from this video, this was a bad shoot by the police.
Internal affairs will clear him.
Old wolfie might get so charged up over this one when he sees it that he just might go twice tonight....
Ping for later.
One more time for the slow kids: Cops. Are. Not. Your. Friends. Some of you out there seem to think that the cop buddy you have will make sure you get passed over when it comes time to do the door to door searches and gun confiscations. What these people don’t realize is that the cop’s paycheck and pension mean a whole lot more to him than any of our rights.
Amen, FRiend
Paniced cop in a tense situation. He shouldn't be a cop, obviously.
That said, the car thief isn't blameless. There was a moment before the theft when a clear choice was made. During and after a chase, few have clear heads.
