Video of a police standoff contradicts the initial Pinal County Sheriff's Office description of the chain of events that led to the shooting death of a suspected car thief. The man had led police and sheriff's deputies on a chase through Casa Grande and Eloy for nearly an hour, before deputies immobilized the car he was driving.
A witness shot the video on a cell phone. It shows the final moments of the standoff, when deputies were ordering Manuel Longoria to surrender. The deputies had their weapons drawn and fired five bean bag rounds at the suspect, in addition to Taser rounds.
Longoria appeared to be moving his arms around, and did not appear to be cooperating with the deputies. Seconds later, the video shows Longoria turn his back on the deputies and raise both hands into the air, high over his head. One second later, a lone deputy fired two shots, killing Longoria.

Not sure I'd call someone who stole his sister's car a "car thief".

He was executed simply and only because the cop wanted to shoot him. He caused the officer some hectic time and the officer desired to shoot him because of that.
Right. So, if I'm a citizen in a kerfuffle, and I cap some ner do well, and go to trial and say: "It was HIGH ADRENALINE, FEW HAVE CLEAR HEADS AND I WAS AFRAID FOR MY LIFE!"
I WILL go to jail for lots and lots of years.

It looks as if this was a bad shoot. The officer was not immediately cited for heroism or awarded his instant Vacation With Pay.

I’m a former prosecutor.
That was murder.
No doubt about it.
And what’s equally troubling is that evidently all the other LEOs went along with the story that he was reaching for a weapon (which didn’t exist).
Then the person who videoed the jack booted thugs released the video.
No wonder cops hate it when we video them.
Kind of hard to be reaching for a gun with your hands clearly visible and over your head while turning your back to the cops.
A suspect gets shot twice in the back and the first thing the cops do is put him face down on the pavement so they can put handcuffs on him.
That’s not going to help the government when the civil lawsuit is filed.
As a former prosecutor, would it be fair to say you are not all that surprised at the actions of the cops at the scene and their lying when questioned about the incident?
