State Sen. Dale Schultz, a moderate Republican who voted with Democrats on occasion, has announced he will not run for re-election this year.
In an extensive interview with WISC-TV (Channel 3000), Schultz, a Republican from Richland Center, said the decision came after "listening to my constituents, and a lot of contemplation and thought with my wife and my family, that I'm not going to stand for re-election this year."
If Schultz had run for re-election, he would have faced state Rep. Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) in a primary election.Ernie Wittwer, former state transportation budget director, is running for the seat as a Democrat.

—yeah—this is the wretch that paraded around the state with one of the Demo’s who decamped to Illinois after the loss of the state legislature-—campaigning for”compromise”-—
Any legitimate chance of a conservative taking the seat?
Read the whole article. Sounds like the puke is thinking about running for Congress. Which party, I have to wonder. As I understand it, he has been thrown out of his local County Republican party.
Yeah, I bet. He's probably been catching holy hell from conservatives there - just like Traitor Chambliss here in Georgia who also is punching out with his golden parachute.
who cares?
They don’t care about the party - any party will do as long as it gives them a paycheck, power, perks and the ability to siphon off money from somewhere.
He did is job on Act 10, but other than that he has been Wisconsin’s John McCain/Lowell Weicker.
His stand against iron mining in depressed Iron County is unconscionable.
Unfortunately, his district is capable of electing Democrats.
If he tries to run for higher office, he won’t be able to do it as a Republican. He’d have to go Dem or Ind. The Dems won’t trust him because he backed Act 10. He doesn’t have a natural constituency to back an independent run.
He’s through.
For a state-senator, I guess no one actually. We’re going to see more of this, particularly from the ones that have been vested in some way or another.
I believe that Schultz’s wife is the local school administrator.
Bye RINO...
One down, about a dozen to go.
he knows he cannot win another term. that’s his constituents telling him.
thank God and good riddance.
