Pensioners with cancer are being written off as too old to treat, campaigners said yesterday.
They cited figures showing survival rates for British patients aged 75 and over are among the worst in Europe.
Young lung cancer sufferers are only 10 per cent more likely to die within five years than their continental counterparts.
But pensioners with the disease have 44 per cent less chance of survival.
The figure for stomach cancer at 45 per cent is even worse.

The decision is made between you, your Lord, and your doctor...the way it should be.
You’re exactly right.
People that are ‘OK’ with 75 yr olds being denied treatment will be ‘OK’ with 65 yr olds being denied treatment.
Belgians can euthanized autistic children if they’re too much trouble for their parents.
The ‘usefulness’ of a person isn’t a reason to let someone outside family and doctor make that decision. It’s a reason to END the idea that it’s OK to make anyone else pay for your medical care.
Private socialization of risk (private insurance) always leads to public socialization of risk (single payer). Because (all together now!)’, it’s not FAAAAAIIIIIR that we have to pay for this and that for someone else if we’re not going to get any ‘use’ out of that money.
Sorry but people can and have died needlessly because they didn’t get the care they needed.
True.
It WILL be a medical holocaust.
Do we really believe that the IRS that’s targeting Tea Party members and conservatives with audits and investigations will somehow be giving them hip replacements or heart surgeries?
LOL.
They will never come right out and tell you ‘we’re not going to operate on you because ‘X’’. They’ll just tell you that the best ‘options’ for your condition don’t include surgery. The doctor will never put himself/herself in a position to be a parking lot target for disgruntled patients. You will simply not be told that loyal democrat operatives will get surgery for your same condition but YOU will get a death panel.
And people will take it. Just like they take the abuses they’re taking right now.
Standard of care will be radically different between the various political apparachiks and kulaks. How many of you will ask (and get a truthful answer) for your particular disorder what the ideal standard of treatment might be? How many of you will know someone of opposite political leaning with the same condition well enough to compare treatments?
It will be like abortion is now. Done quietly and privately in a doctors office. And people who have been denied treatment they would have gotten had they only voted ‘correctly’ will never know they haven’t gotten proper care. And if they speak out, you can guarantee the IRS will hold any inheritance hostage just to spite their families.
You know what is so stupid about it now is the rise of hydrocodone addiction and abuse. Pill mills. For junkies.
When perhaps (millions) suffered because of bureaucratic incompetence.
On the other hand my grammy was a pill junkie... died in 1980...
But that isn’t really the point. End of life care givers and more necessarily the dying should have free unlimited access to relief. If that is their choice.
The IRS was just the beginning..targeting Conservative groups is NOTHING compared to what’s coming..screwing groups over so they can’t get tax exempt status is one thing, determining who gets treatment based on who they voted for is the next thing down the pike..you go to the doctor, you need an expensive medical procedure, of course you have to go to Mr. Govt to get approval, Oh your a Conservative, your pro life, yeah Im sorry that surgery isn’t gonna happen..its a liberal’s dream come true..we already know they want us dead, this way they can kill us legally
No doubt about it.
And most of us are so trusting of ‘medical opinion’ that we will never know it. We’ll just assume that nice doctor was telling us the truth when he said there was nothing that he could do for us. And he will be telling the truth too. There’s nothing he COULD do for us. He won’t be ALLOWED to do anything for us.
And if people think this is just about decrepit 75yr olds with fatal cancer diagnosis they need to think again. That OB/gyn that your wife sees? Well, she’ll get a notice that your wife will not get a c section no matter what. Hope your wife has an uncomplicated labor and delivery. For her it’ll be just like medicine circa 1900. That nice apparachik’s wife will get an epidural as soon as she steps foot in the hospital and a c section at a moments notice of any fetal distress. And if your kid is born ‘defective’ due to labor and delivery complications you can bet there won’t be any NICU for YOUR kid.
And yet people will fail to believe that THEY have been wrongly treated. So much we worship the men in white coats with MD’s it will never enter our minds that anything is amiss. ‘Things happen’. ‘childbirth has always been dangerous’. ‘You can always have another once you’re done grieving this one’.
Having decided that it’s ‘OK’ to deny one treatment (chemo) to someone based on age, why on earth do you think they would be obligated to provide another treatment (morphine)?
Having broken a trust (that they will treat you), why wouldn’t they break a trust (that they will treat you)?
Death panels are OK as long as they provide adequate morphine?
Don’t you think there are lots of sickos who populate the coming death panels that will giggle at the idea of denying some good conservative ANY treatment. Based on age. Or prior condition. Or whatever.
If you don’t think the kind of person who get their jollies hurting someone will be the same kind of person who will populate the ‘decision panels’ you haven’t paid attention to human nature or that of people who populate bureaucracies. And they will probably get giant (censored) just thinking about the pain your loved one is in.
This is longevity redistribution. If you live longer than average, you are enjoying an unfair advantage which must be taken away from you in the name of social justice. Liberal politicians, of course, are exempt.
DR. Davis at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot Idaho is an incompetent lying POS.
This preview rated BO.
These decisions won’t just be the 95yr old with osteo who needs a new hip.
When your wife gets pregnant, her file will be annotated for the doctors convenience that she will get one u/s scan at most. When she goes into labor she will not be getting an epidural or a c section regardless of the circumstances. If your baby has a ‘problem’, NICU will be unavailable for whatever the problem.
You will be totally unaware this has taken place. When your wife asks for pain relief she will either be told it’s ‘too early’ for an epi, or ‘too late’. If she has significant problems during labor she will be told that ‘it takes longer the first time’, ‘women have been doing this forever, you worry too much!’, or ‘it’s too late for a c section now, we’ll just have to have the baby the old fashioned way’.
And I’m unclear on why there is the belief that a system that has already denied the humanity of the patient in question re: the original posting (due to age) by denying lifesaving treatment won’t also deny their humanity and fail to provide any pain killer. It isn’t as though there isn’t a precedent to deny treatment due to age or infirmity.
Do you really think the healthcare system run by this IRS will actually provide *adequate* painkillers for terminal patients who have ever given money to a tea party candidate?
Really?
And the doctors will be the very last people in the world to tell you you’re getting the shaft. They’re not stupid. They know that if they deny the treatment you’re likely to plug THEM in the parking lot after work.
We all have those.
Regardless. Will you ever be able to believe that your ‘diagnosis and treatment’ for any given condition is exactly the same as someone who’s an Obama bundler’s sibling?
No, you won’t.
so the point is the stupidity of your handlers has now outmatched the stupidity of your handlers
Hopefully you’re over 60.
