Several people have been injured after a shooting at the Columbia Mall.

I think Howard Cosell on live TV was calling a football game many years ago, and said as an RB was breaking free and running for paydirt:
“Look at that Jungle Monkey run!!!”
I remember vaguely watching that at the time, I was slightly younger and did not have any parental units around to counsel me on how bad that terminology was...
So I blew it off, and never thought about it till other news outlets started making a big deal out of it...
Just goes to show who really did stir up the problem of race relations in this country...

Ahhhh man, you beat me to the Howard Cosell moment...I thought he said “Jungle Monkey”...My memory has faded over the years since that happened...And even then it had made little impact on how I view the American Black citizens of this country...
Of course I was a kid back at that time...So I guess I was lucky NOT to be influenced by the racial faux paux presented on that program...
As soon as I heard it was at Zumiez, my gut told me this was not a random “spree” killing.
Local station saying its domestic ex-boyfriend kills both girl & new boyfriend working in same store. She was once engaged to ex & now perp!
Leaving for a visit to family (in Baltimore) from Columbia, MD. Noticed helicopter overhead and driving up 29 North, noticed dozens of law enforcement cars with sirens and lights heading south. Turned on the radio and learned about the shooting. Talk about surreal. The icy roads and snow didn’t help the nerves.
Reality TV - coming to a life near you. Living in perilous time.

When the powers that be find out this is not a mass murder, but a misplaced targeted shoot of 1st degree, it’ll drop from national news.
I knew it would be national right away. Just 10 years ago not every shooting was catapulted to national status as it is now, breathlessly hoping for high drama and a means to push the “no guns” mantra.
If the cops just say “Stay where you are”, then all the folks in Victoria’s Secret would have continued to browse :) “Shelter in place”, however, means people have to take shelter; there is a danger. Put down the lingerie and hide!

Not anymore. Not only did Bean leave, but the mall blasted their building and is changing the layout there. I hope back to the old rear entrance version.
