Gun firms’ ‘microstamping’ protests are ‘baloney,’ law’s author says (California)

Gun makers’ objections to a California law that requires firearms to imprint a unique “microstamp” on bullet casings are “baloney” and “posturing,” said Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer, who introduced the legislation while serving in the state Assembly.

Feuer’s comments come as gun maker Smith & Wesson announced Thursday that it would stop selling newly designed semiautomatic pistols in California because it will not comply with the law, implemented in May 2013.

The law requires some firearms to imprint a unique “microstamp” to help identify bullet casings. It is intended to help police investigators link shell casings found at crime scenes to a specific gun.

Smith & Wesson joins gun maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. in halting the sales. Both companies criticized the microstamping requirement as costly, unreliable and ineffective, saying that there is no evidence that it will help solve crimes. …

Or you could file the stamp down and eliminate any marking.

Swap out the firing pin from a state that doesn’t require it?

Or if you were really clever, get a second firing pin file it down use it for the crime and then replace the unaltered pin in your weapon. Not a bad idea to have a second barrel also.

Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer is what I call, an Imbecile Extraordinaire.

This Dumb F*** has NO IDEA how easy it is to change out a firing pin on ANY weapon, with an AFTER MARKET part.

Anti gun nutz are just that: NUTZ!

Only a barking moonbat could cook up this kind of stupidity and think its SMART!

Commie pigs really are brain damaged.

Socialists are a cancer, but they are very clever.

Like getting control of health care, they know not to do it all at once, but piece by piece.

Take something that they want to get rid of, like guns, and gradually make it more expensive and more difficult to have. When they eventually have it down to just a few people left that own them, then they make their move to confiscate. It’s easier because fewer people complaining are simple to make out to be “extremists”.

" I see the sales of brass catchers increasing in Cali. "

Given the state of ammo availability for hand gunz, it's almost a requirement these daze.

To the author of that law...

I’m a firearms manufacturer and developer. I’ve got years of experience in the firearms field, more so than the author of that law.

So, chew on this... microstamping creates sharp edges inside the chamber and on the firing pin. This will lead to hot spots in the chamber and potential failure points on the cartridge case. This is a safety concern and potentially fatal issue.

Should an injury occur because of microstamping, I will be happy to testify against you in court along with other experts in my field.

I can prove scientifically that microstamping is dangerous and an unnecessary hazard to the operator of the firearm. I guess I’ll be seeing you in court at some point.

Oh, and my company is reaffirming its decision to not sell to the state of California or any law enforcement or government agencies there.

Or order a replacement firing pin from just about a thousand different sources.

Democrat legislators couldn’t pass a stupid test.

From the article:
“Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer said microstamping technology
has been reliable and available since before the 2007 law was passed...”
-
Are any manufacturers actually doing microstamping?
I’ve never seen one, other than as a prototype/concept.

The intent of this law was exactly to make it too prohibitive to manufacture and sell semi-automatic pistols in CA and you can bet that if S&W and Ruger can’t/won’t make them, no other maker will either. The net and intended result is that there will be no new semi-auto pistols in CA. This is the single biggest gun grabber victory in history. They wiped out a whole class of firearms without even having to ban them.

Their next holy grail is the so-called assault rifles. Look for CA to require microstamping for all semi-auto rifles next. Other blue states will follow suit.
