Gun makers objections to a California law that requires firearms to imprint a unique microstamp on bullet casings are baloney and posturing, said Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer, who introduced the legislation while serving in the state Assembly.
Feuers comments come as gun maker Smith & Wesson announced Thursday that it would stop selling newly designed semiautomatic pistols in California because it will not comply with the law, implemented in May 2013.
The law requires some firearms to imprint a unique microstamp to help identify bullet casings. It is intended to help police investigators link shell casings found at crime scenes to a specific gun.
Smith & Wesson joins gun maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. in halting the sales. Both companies criticized the microstamping requirement as costly, unreliable and ineffective, saying that there is no evidence that it will help solve crimes.

Thanks. That is interesting that he was unafraid to take on the machine pistol armed Palestinians with his little Beretta model 70 in .22LR.
He not only took them on, he prevailed.
In 1974 I bought a Beretta model 70 from Looboyles in Tulsa. They had two for sale. One was a blued model with a polished finish. The other was identical except it had a matte finish, was imported by Galef rather than Beretta.
The Galef model was one third the price of the other one. They were equal in quality. Of course I bought the cheap one.
There is plenty of steel on a firing pin that it can be "stoned" clean and slick in about 10 minutes. It will still fire just fine.
The only baloney is the bull crap coming out of the mouths of these statists who want to legislate the Second Amendment out of existence incrementally.
I hope he goes down to hell with the idiot state he serves in.
Ping to 13.
Good post.
Not necessary just use a knife sharpening stone and make it smooth. The firing pins are plenty long enough to still work fine. It takes about 10 minutes.
“Screw the Calif. peeps.
They voted for what they got.”
So you voted for Obama?
It's easy to be a conservative in a red state. Try walking a mile in my shoes.
They aren’t nuts. Nor are they stupid.
They don’t care if their laws don’t work. They don’t care how much it costs to fight them. They don’t care who dies because of their laws. Spewing a ton of fudd in the air is all they care about. Keep enough of the populace ignorant and in the dark, and they’ve got a lock on the votes.
They are in charge and they will do what they want until they are stopped...
Choose your favorite method for accomplishing said stoppage and get to it.
I live in a "border" state and am planning to move to a more Conservative place to live out my life.
(I eschew the media given State Colors.)
I always wondered how the press decided to give the Communist states a blue color which is usually interpreted as representing honor or fidelity.
Instead they give the states which are more conservative, the Red for Communist color. Not a coincidence I guarantee you.
Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer?
Another asshole in government attempting to control, target and regulate business.
I hope the state loses millions in taxes..
Money is the only thing these controlling overpaid AH’s understand.
I live the color red but it would be much better to paint the leftists as to thier preferred historical color.
Better dead than red. (Live Free or Die.)

***Or you could file the stamp down and eliminate any marking.***
True, but you are better off using emery cloth so as not to shorten the firing pin so much or you will get misfires.
***They wiped out a whole class of firearms without even having to ban them.***
Thereby getting around the WILL OF THE VOTERS when, in 1982, the VOTERS rejected Proposition 15, to ban the sale of handguns in California.
***Looboyles in Tulsa***
Bought my AR-15 there in 1971. Downstairs at Southroads Mall. Spent the rest of my money at DONGS and Oertles.
And use frangible ammo.
This guy most likely knows ZERO about firearms except (maybe) which end the bullet comes out of...but that’s not really the point! ;)
“I want to see Mike Feuers (the author of the law) engineering degree, years experience in the field, and professional licenses.”
He doesn’t need it-he’s an ATTORNEY! He diagrammed a case involving an engineer, a case involving a firearm, and voila! He’s an expert in engineering and firearms! Isn’t law school great? /sarcasm;)
