At a time when more and more Americans are coming to an awareness of how evil abortion is, President Barack Obama, the most fiercely pro-abortionist president in our history, is digging his heels in further.
This week, he made his annual statement glorifying this hideous practice on the anniversary of the infernal 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which greatly restricted abortion laws.
Obama's statement was as unapologetic as it was grotesque, celebrating an abominable procedure that ought to be outlawed -- not glamorized, as the left does with it. Before you accuse me of hyperbole, be advised that Democratic National Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz wished Roe v. Wade a happy 41st birthday. "Happy"?
Obama said, "Today, as we reflect on the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, we recommit ourselves to the decision's guiding principle: that every woman should be able to make her own choices about her body and her health.
"We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting a woman's access to safe, affordable health care and her constitutional right to privacy, including the right to reproductive freedom.
"And we resolve to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, support maternal and child health, and continue to build safe and healthy communities for all our children, because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams."
No one is trying to interfere with women's autonomy over their own bodies, except when another body and life is involved. It is sheer sophistry and misdirection to argue that abortion opponents are on a crusade against women's liberty. This formulation conveniently -- and repugnantly -- factors out of the equation the innocent child involved.
It is dishonest for Obama to couch this issue in terms of women's health. Most pro-lifers, in fact, acknowledge an exception in those rare cases when the mother's life is in danger. Women's health isn't the issue, and pro-abortionists know that. The only thing interfering with a woman's "choices about her ... health" these days is Obamacare. If maximizing health care choices were what is driving Obama, he would repeal Obamacare.
Nor does abortion have anything to do with privacy under any stretch of the English language; I don't care what the misguided Supreme Court said to the contrary in 1973. No amount of rhetorical legalese on "emanations" and "penumbras" can pollute our common sense into believing that a woman has a right to terminate the life of an innocent child she is carrying as a matter of constitutional privacy. No wonder some people have contempt for lawyers.
Obama has the audacity to talk about safe and healthy communities for all our children? Aborted babies are children, and Obama and his pro-abortionists are not making any of them safe. Indeed, since Roe, an estimated 55 million babies have been snuffed out in the name of women's choice and health and now children's safety? Now that's chutzpah! The number of babies killed in abortions in New York City in 2010 (83,750) would fill the seats in MetLife Stadium, where the Super Bowl is scheduled to be played this year.
But perhaps the most offensive sentence in Obama's statement was the last one, in which he attempted to fold the right to abortion into the American dream. Has he no shame? No amount of presidential spin will alter the irreversible fact that 55 million Americans were never given an opportunity to fulfill their dreams. How could any human being believe that preserving legal protection for other human beings to terminate the lives of yet other human beings is giving them an "opportunity to fill their dreams"? Are some people so dark-hearted that they consider killing babies an opportunity to fulfill dreams?
It is high time that people who can still find their moral compass through the nihilistic morass that is corrupting our culture start speaking out and quit allowing the left to turn our values, our language and, yes, our sanity on their heads. Postmodernism and moral relativism will lead to the destruction of all three, as the late Malcolm Muggeridge prophetically observed.
Some other civilizations, Muggeridge noted, were destroyed by external forces, but Western man has "had the unique distinction of training its own destroyers at its own educational institutions, and then providing them with facilities for propagating their destructive ideology far and wide, all at the public expense. Thus did Western Man decide to abolish himself, creating his own boredom out of his own affluence, his own vulnerability out of his own strength, his own impotence out of his own erotomania, himself blowing the trumpet that brought the walls of his own city tumbling down, and having convinced himself that he was too numerous, labored with pill and scalpel and syringe to make himself fewer. Until at last, having educated himself into imbecility, and polluted and drugged himself into stupefaction, he keeled over -- a weary, battered old brontosaurus -- and became extinct."
Humanism is the religion of the Left. Abortion is its sacrament. The Death Cult of the ungodly glories in it.
human sacrifice is not new nor only having been practiced in the west. The one common factor, don’t know of a civilization that survived. I do however want to know if they suffered the same judgment given the nations (tribes) which once occupied the Promised Land and were given the consequences of invasion and Lamentation. If so, sounds like God’s judgment to me. Be careful what you wish for. The God of justice has not changed. The God who avenges the innocent has not changed. This is on a national level. repeat. National.
Abortion is a human sacrifice to the god of self.
Nothing has changed since the beginning.
“you will be as gods, knowing good and evil”
(”knowing” having a connotation of “deciding”)
I detest abortion.
BUT, lets be honest. Abortion has helped conservatism in the US. The vast majority of those having abortions are liberals and minorities which vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.
That doesn’t make it right, but it’s worth pointing out.
That’s ONE angle to look at... but I think it’s simplifying the reality.
Since the family unit is the basis of conservatism,
and abortion has a direct result of destroying that family unit
(as does any policy from the left),
it may have a net negative effect on conservatism and liberty.
And now we also have 55 million hurting, depressed or suicidal, or self destructive women because of Roe v. Wade. Every girl I ever met who had an abortion were either deeply regretful or they were just the opposite....they would imagine that since the father was “evil” so was the baby they aborted, so they could justify the decision they made, being in total self denial. The Communist care nothing about women, this is another step to demoralize us, and boy did they do that....it has taken away our national soul. I can not even wrap my mind around 55 million precious little ones....all I can do is mourn for the forgotten American babies. If we really cared....we would rise up.....millions of us and do away with this murder tomorrow, but no.....it is just a political position now. I believe that America as a whole deserves what we get, for this national sin, and exactly why we have an evil leader in the white house now. God did the exact same thing in the bible.
I think yours was a comment best kept to yourself.
These were children, not statistics.
You’ll also find that the most strident abortion defenders are those that have had an abortion and spend the rest of their lives trying to justify their decision to kill.
Since 1973 Americans have murdered more innocent children than all the people who died during World War II.
Americans have managed to murder more babies than the populations of California and New York Combined.
And we wonder why God seems to be absent in our culture.
We live in a culture that is barbaric beyond any that we dare to criticize. The blood of 55 million murdered children cries out from the grave.
America must REPENT OR PERISH.
I know....and do not believe what TexasFreeper said....this has not been good for Conservatives at all....most of the women I have known were Born Again Christians either during the Abortion or after! I heard a poll that 1 out every 4 women in America have had an Abortion and that includes Christians. They believed the lie too that the “Fetus” is just a glob of tissue. I hate that word “Fetus”.
You see, I got pregnant at 15 by statutory rape, and hid my pregnancy so that by the time my sister took me for an abortion, it was too late back in 1979. So I had a beautiful little girl at an unwed mothers home and gave her up for adoption. I was also able to talk one of my friends out of having an abortion, and she thanked me sincerely after she gave birth to a beautiful little girl.
This issue is number one for me....the right to life is the basis for all of our other freedoms. After that was taken away, all other freedoms are in jeopardy, and now we can see them all being taken away. Who will speak for the little ones who cannot defend themselves?
If the shame of abortion would be lifted off of 55 million women, and they tell of the hurt, pain and devastation it has had on their lives. These women could stop abortion right now, by telling the truth about what abortion. But they are in a prison of shame and denial. This is the secret sin of women that have have been lied to by these evil people, and so it is a vicious cycle.
Our SS class, a few years back, studied the book of Jeremiah. Child sacrifice (abortion and throwing their live children into the fire) were both practiced as part of their idolatry. We go even further, in my opinion. We flaunt our nakedness, our sins, our degradation openly and without shame. Yes, they did to some extent, as well, but our society has decided to go all out and stick our middle finger in God’s face. Yes, the very One who gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believed would not perish. They deny the life after death, but they will have a rude awakening one day, that day after death when they realize they were wrong. Wonder who they’ll blame then.
I’m not saying that Christians have always loved well, but let’s face the fact that most of the anti-christian rhetoric today stems from what people believe we believe, not from personal experience. If you tell anyone you are a believer, you are automatically a hater, a bigot, a racist, whatever. Doesn’t matter how loving and caring a person you are. Your beliefs MAKE you what THEY want you to be. We do not often get the opportunity to SHOW our faith. It is dismissed. And, to be honest, the social “christians” who vote democrat make things worse. They come preaching their message that we ARE the haters, even as they have never seen us in action, or seen us demonstrating our Christian love. The point being to silence us and cower us into their viewpoint. I’m sick of being called callous, hateful, a bigot, and any number of other things, just because I am a true follower of Christ. Most true believers are involved in ministry in several ways, actually, and our churches do ministry to the poor in our communities, those suffering after a disaster, etc.
They want to force their brand of Christianity down our throats. Theirs is leading people down the road to destruction because when the Truth is compromised for the sake of not hurting someone’s feelings, you are NOT expressing true love. True love exposes sin in a loving and caring manner, offering the sinner a chance for repentance, but firmly showing them the consequences of their sin. One truly wonders how they view their own sin. Jesus said that the way was narrow and few there be that find it. That makes me pause and consider my life quite often. We ARE to be God’s messengers of His love and compassion, His wanting all to be saved, but we dare not change the Gospel to suit the sinners. Scripture also instructs us not to change anything, to make our own interpretations, according to our evil desires. America is self-destructing because we have changed the Truth into lies to suit our sinful natures, rather than change our lives to fit the Truth. All the degradations we see today are just symptoms of the disease of sin, left untreated (like an STD) . We will collapse some day. We could be taken over by a foreign power. We will be somebody’s slaves. This is how history works. I do not see a repentant spirit in America. I know there are still a lot of good Christians, but the left, and “believers” on the left (???) seem to be gaining daily. If it were not that we know the end, that Christ is triumphant, these days would be intolerable.
Prediction for the Progressive "believers".
They will definitely vote to PERISH then.
Repentance is virtually absent in our culture. YHWH’s patience is running out...perhaps it already has...
Agreed.
Essentially, these issues in which we as a culture look God in the face and call Him a liar, are national security issues. God isn’t the passive, pleading and powerless “deity” that the “Christian” left has sold to the public. That’s an idolatrous “god” of their imaginations. The Almighty God is also a God of wrath, and He doesn’t appreciate being called a liar.
