Asked by Senator John McCain what he thought it was about the "anti-immigration" Progress Party that appealed to Norwegian voters, Greek American businessman George Tsunis seemed unaware of the party's role in the ruling coalition.
"You get some fringe elements that have a microphone and spew their hatred," he said in the pre-appointment hearing. "And I will tell you Norway has been very quick to denounce them."
McCain interrupted him, pointing out that as part of the coalition, the party was hardly being denounced.
"I stand corrected," Tsunis said after a pause. "I would like to leave my answer at... it's a very, very open society and the overwhelming amount of Norwegians and the overwhelming amount of people in parliament don't feel the same way."

Why is Norway’s immigration policy of any concern to the US?
I wonder if he even rode the Norway ride at Epcot...
Government of clowns.
sounds like McCain was trying to show the future ambassador had done his homework.
correction: had NOT done his homework.
Of course, Soros Stooge McCain attacking a nations political party trying to reduce Islamic immigration and violence.
The US thinks every developed country should destroy itself by bringing in people from the Third World who hate Western Civilization and want to make their adopted country into the one they left.
How much money did Tsunis raise for Obama to get this position??
Agree. Juan McCain was trying to elicit some negative discussion of the Progress party, because it doesn’t hew to McCain’s open-border suicide policies. Instead, however, he just got an incoherent display of rank ignorance from the Obama flunkee. McCain couldn’t continue a negative discussion of Progress, because the Obama idiot didn’t know the first thing about Norway, much less anything about its political parties.
It’s like we deliberately pick people to be ambassadors uniquely qualified to piss of the people of the country we send them to.
Hopefully he can spell Norway and be able to find it on a map.
Yes...McCain was more concerned with Progress Party not being Open Borders...moreso that what new US ambassador knew
My now ex-wife convinced Tsunis to be our son's godfather at his Orthodox baptism in 1992. He was happy to do so, but never responded to any contacts thereafter. In the Orthodox Church, the godfather has a responsibility to make sure his godchild is being raised in the church. I don't mind that he ignored my son (I never was impressed with him personally), but that's an indication of the sort of man he is personally.
One would hope that U.S. ambassadors would have familiarity with major policy issues of the countries to which they are dispatched to represent the U.S.A.
Did you give your son a Norwegian name? ;-) j/k
We call this LAS. Liberal Autopilot Syndrome. As soon as anti-immigration is brought up, they immediately default to ‘denounce and smear’
Yeah, I caught that. McLame is a globalist shamnesty shill.
Go play in traffic Juan!
