Widow tells ‘GMA’: Put theater shooter in prison for life
The Tampa Tribune ^ | January 23, 2014 | Rick Mayer

Posted on 01/23/2014 8:42:56 AM PST by 4Runner

Nicole Oulson told a national television audience today that she wants Curtis Reeves, the man accused of killing her husband in a Wesley Chapel movie theater, to spend the rest of his life in prison.

“He brought an unfair life sentence to me to have to raise my daughter alone, to have to live without the love of my life, for my daughter to grow up without her daddy by her side for graduation and marriage,” Oulson said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “It was so unnecessary, it was for no reason. So I want him behind bars and to be punished for his senseless act.

“Your man?” How is the shooter MY MAN? Well thank you Mister Judge and Jury. I guess you also think there’s no “statistical probability” an officer of the U.S. military of Muslim faith and Arabic ethnicity would execute dozens of his unarmed U.S. military colleagues in a jihadist action on a U.S. military base, do you????? I could tell you what I really think of your thought processes. But it would probably get me flagged.

But there are some things a prudent person can do to avoid escalating a potentially dangerous confrontation and making it worse or even deadly.

<><><><

Of course, all the prudent actions need to come from the unarmed man, right?

What about the shooter, were there things he might have done differently? Like just maybe keep your perspective given that it’s the previews being shown, not the movie itself?

Maybe you’ve noticed that people are still getting seated during the previews.

It’s kind of disgusting that so much of the focus is on the dead man, not the shooter.

I went to an extreme to make a point and I did. You're incapable of being objective here.

If you are a 71 year old man holding a 43 year old man at bay with a gun and the younger man (who is only feet away) tells you he is going to take the gun and shove it up your ass and then moves toward you, you wouldn't feel in imminent danger? What do you think happens when he gets his hand on the gun?

Prediction: The theater was giving the retired LEO free tickets. If/when the widow’s attorneys discover this they’ll file suit against the theater corporation.

Fortunately or unfortunately it is illegal to kill assholes.

Ex cop and dead texter had never met before so there was no malice aforethought but the element of premeditation may possibly be demonstrated.

Death penalty might be appropriate here.

As for the widow, she deserves to be heard.

You might be able to discern a copsucker or two on this thread. That should clarify the issue of their existence in your mind.

You're the one defending him against that mean 'ole widow woman.

I guess you also think there’s no “statistical probability” an officer of the U.S. military of Muslim faith and Arabic ethnicity would execute dozens of his unarmed U.S. military colleagues in a jihadist action on a U.S. military base, do you?????

And what does that have to do with the victim in this case?

I could tell you what I really think of your thought processes. But it would probably get me flagged.

And you've displayed what passes for your thought process enough already.

The days following the shooting, there were numerous posters making up a crap tale about the shooter not even going to management as he’d claimed, instead going to his car to get his gun.

Management did say he spoke to them about his compliant.

Just because something is or isn’t in the news doesn’t make it newsworthy or mean it didn’t happen.

Maybe he should’ve just taken his beat down (did you think it would end with him throwing popcorn) and then used the state’s assault on elderly law. Of course the gun grabbers in the national media (who are saying this is another Florida “stand your ground” case “just like Trayvon’s”) wouldn’t cover a beat down.

There’s a lot less traffic on the story about the girl who had her head kicked in for walking into someone’s cellphone photo. Wonder why.

and yet, she was wounded, shot through the hand. Possibly restraining her husband, who was possibly menacing a 60 plus year old man.

Won’t know the facts until all the facts are in. Unarmed does not mean dangerous...

Asking for conventional courtesy, or a social norm, should not require an act of self defense.

Nope. I didn't say that.

But I would rather be alive and prudent than 'dead right'.

As I said in a previous post:

"You never know if the other guy is a loose cannon ready to blow up or not."

"I see my primary objective as survival and protection of my loved ones".

" It's not about right or wrong or being manly enough to stare the other guy down -
it's about avoiding and/or not exacerbating a potentially deadly situation when possible."

Imminent danger? Possibly. Imminent danger of death or grave bodily harm? No. There was no evidence at all that Reeves faced that situation. Even if the situation had happened as you described. But nobody has said that Reeves warned the victim or showed his gun before firing the shot.

Prediction: The theater was giving the retired LEO free tickets.

Fact: The theater offers senior citizen discounts and a Moviegoer Rewards Program.

I agree with the wife completely. Jail the shooter for life & if she gets some donations, she deserves them. I hope she completely bankrupts the scumbag shooter in civil court. I'm just sorry another member of the audience didn't pull their weapon & blow the murderer away.

Your speculation about the dead man is disgusting & without merit, & yes, you are speaking ill of the dead - a despicable act, & especially so given you statement has no basis of fact.

I’m not talking about a senior citizen discount -which is true for most theaters.

I’m talking about free tickets given to LEOs by this theater. I.e. a perk like free donuts at Duncan and burgers at McDs. The fact that an out-of-county LEO was also there supports it.

Yes, because as we all know, annoying people is a capital offense.

The jury is out, but you might be one of those self righteous types you were talking about.

"You never know if the other guy is a loose cannon ready to blow up or not."

So then by no means should you move a few seats away, right???

Be sure to sit right behind the guy, order him around, kick his seat, start an argument, pick a fight so you can use the gun that you know that you have but he doesn't.

"I see my primary objective as survival and protection of my loved ones".

Would that be like your wife who you left seated there while you went to the lobby to complain.

Or maybe it is your son, the Tampa Bay police officer, who you know is coming into the theatre at any moment to join you for the movie -- and did just as he shot him dead.

The guy was a pure coward.

Having popcorn thrown at you is a “beatdown”? Kookiness like this is the kind of stuff the left uses to after gun owners and stand your ground laws. This guy was totally irresponsible with his gun and should pay dearly for it. He and those who would defend him is what jeopardizes 2nd amendment rights for responsible gun owners.
