For quite a while, I’ve thought that potential of ‘collapse’ is actually real and on its way in the near future.

However, in seeing the last 4 years of Obama and his destructive policies, outright creation of money out of thin air by the Fed to dump in MBSs and T-Bills (to legitimize the deficit and debt), massive increases in SSDI, SSI, SNAP, WICs, EITC, Section 8 and all the other entitlements with no apparent effect on the Stock Market or by international entities, I really wonder.

Sure, there would be a collapse one day if a source of real money cannot be found, and I’ve come to the conclusion that his end-game is total redistribution - he will confiscate IRAs, 401Ks, Roth IRAs, savings over $200K or so, and any other real assets (i.e., land, real estate, etc.). He will do this to the howls of approval by entitlement leeches, illegals made legal, by Democrats and liberals everywhere, and not a damned thing will be done about it. Those affected by the seizures will be given a token increase chit in their Social Security, and the retribution slate will be clean. Until the next time when the only option open to him and those like him is real slavery.

I think your scenario may be pretty close. You can see this being set up right now. The ongoing pitting of those who have something (anything) against those who rely on the government. You can see it growing day by day. Obama incubated this in his campaigns and the corrupt MSM was the warm petri dish of approval. Now it is completely out in the open - those who have are to be despised because they unfairly or unjustly enriched themselves. Those on the government dole are being seeded daily with the growing sense of entitlement and that, where it not for “the rich” their lives would be better, so they are justified in taking from “the rich” by any means necessary.

Sadly, I see more and more people losing heart. Oh sure, they appear somewhat normal, but the sense of impotence and lack of control is growing by leaps and bounds among society. As a result, people are withdrawing and are giving up fighting. Like abuse victims, people are turning inward and working in near survival mode seeking to simply protect what they have and no more.

Yes, I blame Obama and the Democrats, but much of the blame rests with the corrupt and evil MSM. As studies have demonstrated, they are 90% - 95% aligned with Democrats and they work their propaganda day by day by day.

Apart from a great awakening in America I see no way out given the current state of affairs.

I think we are at the beginning of the collapse right now. These “collapses” take time (look back on history) and do not happen overnight. America is committing suicide right before our own eyes and everyone believes a collapse is still off in the distance.
As you noted, confiscations of IRA’s and 401k’s etc are a very real threat but in the long run all it will be is monopoly money taken from “us” as our dollar isn’t backed by anything other than our promise to re-pay / service our debt which at this point is just silly to consider given your previous point of alllllll the entitlements. We’ve dumped trillions into entitlements and it has gotten us know where but more entitlements.
We are watching it happen now and I don’t care what the government says, Once obamacare (ACA) is in full swing companies will be shuttering left and right and un-employment will sky-rocket. The circle will be complete and run-away inflation will take hold as the Fed and the Treasury kick in the printing presses to “ridiculous speed” to cover the entitlements to the freshest batch of un-employed looking to get theirs since they paid in all these years. Our society will then hit the middle of the collapse.

Then the fun begins.

Yes, with all the $$$+ done by this administration I am also amazed how we haven’t crashed yet

My only guess is everybody else is equally if not more screwed up. When everybody owes everybody else money it keeps it all going.

If all other countries were in good fiscal shape, then we would have collapsed a long time ago.

I think that you and some other comments on this topic have hit the nail on the head. Most people (and quite a few here on FR) think that you'll wake up tomorrow morning and that there will be some kind of apocalypse outside where you'll need your guns and all the food that you've saved up over the last several years.

The reality is that the decline will be slow and steady over possibly decades, with the end result being what will feel like an economic and societal collapse, Gradually, crime will rise, apathy will reach an all time high, and you will see a true Atlas Shrugged type scenario. By that time, however, most of us will be long gone and our children will be dealing with it. I'm not saying that I'm not interested in trying to prevent it, but the odds are stacked against us. Two political parties that only care about themselves, a lack of critical thinking by the easily distracted citizenry, the Fed who can print money at will, etc., will just ride the wave of collapse for as long as they can.
