2 out of 3! Not Bad.

I am hoping the recitals will be in the same venues as last year.

Evening Kathy. I think NY is turning into Alaska.

SEATTLE CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY

WINTER FESTIVAL

JANUARY 24 THRU FEBRUARY 2

Franz Joseph Haydn wrote 104 trios for piano, violin and cello, making him the inventor of this genre. The cello in a Haydn trio backs the piano in a harmonic imitation of the harpsichord continuo role from the Baroque era, so cellists don’t get all that excited about playing a Haydn trio. These trios are sensible music for sensible people, and each of them is a little gem. Saturday night’s opener is Haydn’s Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano in C, Hob. XV:27.

This video is a performance of the Trio Gaspard from the Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition in Weimar, Germany. Look at the sheer joy and exuberance these people experience in playing this piece. These folks won first prize. The pianist is Chinese, the violinist is Polish, and the cellist is an American whose parents must have been hippies. Check out her full name. Catch the improvisation on the piano at 13:17; Haydn just provides a fermata in the score and tells the pianist to ad lib.

Haydn: Piano Trio in C, Hob. XV:27

This is just the education part. The actual concerts are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I’ll be posting links to the live concerts on those days.

IIRC, it’s 55 or 65. But if there’s a test underway, the speed limit is zero! Traveling on US 70 can be a real gamble.

Rocket exhaust, lit by a sunset.
The view is from here in Arizona. Sagauros don’t grow anywhere else.

Holloman seems to be one of those active bases. I noticed on the local news that a squadron of F-22s from Holloman was recently moved to Tyndall. That makes Tyndall the base with the most F-22s in the world.

I have noticed that when there is combat such as Iraq, the Eglin and Holloman squadrons seem to be the ones sent to do the heavy lifting.

Good evening, Mooch...you’ve got all our cold. Stay warm!!

“They” say the next week will be 36 and a little more for highs, with some of the nights above and some below freezing. My parking lot at work is like an ice skating rink. They’ve done a very poor job of getting gravel down. I wear my spikies from car to inside and back again.

Hope you don’t have to spend much time out in the cold.

Good evening, Luv. I would like to visit a couple of the military museums one day.

I think Lauren’s heavy duty work is for at least a month.
