Apparently so.

Makes me wonder whether there isn’t another agenda at play here.

I would say you are the ignorant one here. You keep attacking one of the few nations that actually is standing up to creeping homosexuality and other perversions affecting their culture Is this your real issue with Russia?

Again, you jerk, how could you possibly think that when I post anti-gay stuff all the time on here. I mean, you are REALLY dumb. Anyway, are you that much of a simpleton to consider a single issue like that in determining who America should trust or not? With that simple criteria, you could say you support some of the worst SOBs who's ever lived. I doubt Saddam Hussein or Stalin cared much for fags.

This Freeper Land. We’re idiots?

Real FReepers don't defend a KGB thug like Putin. Don't lump yourself in with them.

Interesting links.

There has been some speculation that Ed Snowden was actually a US government hacker with savant like skills, which would help explain his rapid rise in the US security hierarchy.

The chicken went home to roost. There is no way Snowden obtained the mountain of data without help. Putin is a masterful psychopath and I find it disturbing how many so called conservatives in the USA are falling for his smoke and mirrors show. To be clear however, the information the NSA is collecting, legally or not, of the citizens of the former Republic of the USA is any politician/dictator wanna be’s wet dream.

True, you can thank Microsoft and the fatally dumb bureaucrats at NSA who forced the use of Sharepoint and approved having thousands of drones like Snowden having administrator access. I cannot imagine a better way to give away a million classified documents.

I would say its a lot more likely that he was in touch with Wikileaks and they helped him plan his move out of the states.

I appreciate your contributions to threads. It’s what FReepers used to do more often: provide background and context.

Thanks. Coming from you that means a great deal. :) I just wish I didn’t have to spend so much of my time setting things straight. Seems like I’m the only one sometimes. These guys probably ping each other to these Russia threads.

Snowden could do far more damage if he wanted to. People are foolish if they think this is all he has.

Our so called leaders are just mad they were outed by a high school dropout.

Also Putin isn’t nearly so powerful as is made out. Russia is basically a decaying country and he has managed to prevent its outright collapse. It certainly isnt the USSR of the 1950’s.

From Wikipedia:

In 2007, the CIA stationed Snowden with diplomatic cover in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was responsible for maintaining computer network security.[49] Snowden described his CIA experience in Geneva as “formative”, stating that the CIA deliberately got a Swiss banker drunk and encouraged him to drive home. Snowden said that when the latter was arrested, a CIA operative offered to intervene and later recruited the banker.[50] Swiss Federal Council President Ueli Maurer said it did not seem likely “that this incident played out as it has been described by Snowden and by the media”.[51] The revelations were said to have come at a sensitive time as the United States was pressing the Swiss government to increase banking transparency.[52]

Snowden left the CIA in 2009 and began work for Dell, a private contractor, inside an NSA facility on a US military base in Japan .[16] Snowden remained on the Dell payroll until early 2013. . .

It shocks me that a majority of freepers think Snowdon is some kind of hero.

The man hightailed it to RUSSIA for gosh sakes. Then seeks refuge in Venezuela. Isn’t it as obvious as can be that he’s a traitor?

Ah yes. Snowden was seeking passage through Cuba as well.

What a patriot.

Correct. NSA has been collecting massive amount of Intel on terrorist movements which obviously keeps terrorism checked.

Snowden and Putin are successful in making things appear as what they are not and even conservatives are calling these scum heroes.

Putin is the leading authority in handling Syria now.

Russia is also moving into Egypt and other parts of Africa in a big way. Russia is intent on recovering vast amounts of the power they once had. Don’t be fooled.
