Andrew Cuomo: Pro-Life People “Have No Place in the State of New York”
Life News ^ | January 17, 2014 | Steven Ertelt

Posted on 01/17/2014 7:36:38 PM PST by NYer

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York has already proven himself to be one of the most pro-abortion politicians in the country. He’s repeatedly pushed a bill that would make the state that has some of the highest abortion rates in the nation further down the road of unlimited abortions.

Now, Cuomo has said that pro-life people have no business living in the state. If the governor has any interest in pursuing national office with a potential Democratic presidential campaign, he’s definitely lost the majority of the country that appreciates the right to life of unborn babies.

But maybe Cuomo is doing the rest of the nation a favor. If he alienates enough pro-lifers, who move elsewhere, the state will continue to see its influence wane — as it further loses more Congressional seats to southern and western states as conservative New Yorkers look for more welcoming places to live.

As reported today:

Governor Cuomo is issuing a warning to what he refers to as the more conservative arm of the Republican party – you’re not welcome in the state of New York.

Moderate Republicans, or those most willing to capitulate to Cuomo’s own extreme agenda, still have the welcome mat rolled out.

Here’s Cuomo during a Friday morning conversation on the Capitol Pressroom (H/t Times Union):

You have a schism within the Republican Party. … They’re searching to define their soul, that’s what’s going on. Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party? That’s what they’re trying to figure out. It’s a mirror of what’s going on in Washington. The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans. It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans.

… You’re seeing that play out in New York. … The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.

If they’re moderate Republicans like in the Senate right now, who control the Senate — moderate Republicans have a place in their state. George Pataki was governor of this state as a moderate Republican; but not what you’re hearing from them on the far right.”

Cuomo has made a career of referring to anyone that opposes his agenda as “extreme” while simultaneously referring to that agenda as “common sense.”

I wonder if Cardinal Dolan will take heed and move out.

“I boast of the grace of Christ and get called on the enemy of grace, which is pride?”

I didn’t call you “the enemy of grace”, I said you can come of as one who likes to lecture others in a snobbish way. I guess another word would be condescending.

“What do you want me to be like, the luke warm Christians you walk among?”

Actually, I don’t walk among the “lukewarm” at this Church anymore. The Pastoral staff were becoming Lukewarm in their message. Too afraid to tackle any politically correct tough issues of the day. Their philosophy was: “We have to tell them what we’re for, not what we’re against.” I guess they missed the studies of the Apostle Paul’s Letters at their respective theological seminaries.

Actually, a look in the mirror is good for all of us.

He is coming back as both, actually. He is not called the “Prince of peace” in vain.

Whenever I hear someone like Cuomo speak, I lose more respect for the Catholic Church. He would have been struck down long ago if St. Peter was still Pope.

The book of Hebrews describes what happens to men and nations who persist in sin; theirs is the judgment of Mount Sinai where there is gloom and smoke. Those who persist in Christ have Mount Zion as their ultimate resting place.

American Christian can begin to help America when we remember that our FIRST Country is always Jesus Christ!

Based on the description, they may have been closer to the Truth than you think. Though they may not have been as emphatic about the salutory effects of intense grace as I.

The only purpose of warning of the bad is so that it can be overcome for the sake of grasping the good again. Not so you can make those dirty rotten sinners squirm in an amusing spectacle before you.

I think it is YOU who have the overweening attitude, frankly. You’re the know it all grown up. I came into the Kingdom learning to be a child in spirit again.

Sinai awaits the unbeliever. Once more we have cherry picking by fleshly believers.

And yet one of two lame belief systems tends to prevail here. Arminianism: you can lose your salvation. Calvinism: good luck finding that you can gain salvation.

THEY ARE BOTH NONSENSE. They both court anxiety as much as you clever “grown ups” want to try to deny it!

Christ said (1) Whosoever will; and (2) None shall snatch them out of My hand.

Now ask God how He did that, and maybe you will eventually get an answer. But quit trying to puzzle it out with your intellect. It does not lead to self contradiction and that should be plenty, if you were willing to BELIEVE.

“We have to tell them what we’re for, not what we’re against”

Hmmm, the problem in modern American churches in a nut shell. You have tell them both. You can describe light, but you need form to help describe its function. When we stand for the light of Christ, we have to teach what his light shows as good and evil. We have to teach both what we stand for and what we stand against!

Every conservative business owner, home owner, and tax payer should pull out of NY immediately then and move to Florida, Texas, Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina. Destroy the liberals that barely control the situations in the districts they do have and the Dems will never win a national election again. It makes ZERO sense for ANY Conservative to remain in NY. It’s stupid suicide on your part.

LET NY BECOME DETROIT.

Let’s say NY has 3 million solid Conservatives. Break that number up with say 400,00 in N.C. that state goes back to solid red for another generation or 2. Send a million to Florida...that state will go back to red from purple for 20 years or more. Ohio gets another 500,000. The elections there have been decided by 40 or 50,000 votes. This again would blow the Dems out of their margin of error.

Send 400,000 to Virginia and you again have blown out the Dem’s hard work and margin of error in winning elections which is somewhere around 100,000 votes right now. It would take them another 20 years to find 400,00 voters in that state. Send the other 500,000 to 600,000 to Texas and move them into Houston, Austin, and San Antonio and that cleans up the Mexican mess happening in the south west portion of the state and it won’t matter for a second how many illegals they got voting down there. It will double their turn out by adding an additional half million + true Conservatives to the voting rolls here.

Seriously...if you are a Conservative and living in NY...you just heard the call. Sell your business, sell your home, pack your life up and go where you can make a huge difference.

NY used to be have a balanced economy, and was on the forefront of the world in growth, thought and society.

Now NY City and State survive solely on Wall Street and the Federal Reserve’s support of their member banks. The Progressives in NY ironically make their living by that thing which they claim to hate. When the US Dollar tanks and/or Wall Street hits the skids, NY City is going into decline faster than Rome when with the Vandals at the gates.

When did I call them “dirty rotten sinners”? And when did I say I wanted them to squirm “in an amusing spectacle before [me]”? Are you serious? You must also have problems with the Apostles, namely Paul.

Sorry, but when pastors refuse to call sin what it is, and begin to water their message down in the name of tolerance and political correctness, they are indeed becoming “lukewarm.” No sermons on the evil of abortion; no sermons on the evil of homosexual marriage...I could go on. They had a duty to call these current abominations out for what they are; they refused. We left...simple.

They should leave California, too. I feel they need to leave rather urgently. The severe drought is just the start of it!
