I always found the “spoof” idea to be a rationalization for showing a lot of violence. Tarantino wanted to make violent movies and still remain a liberal.

Now Weinstein will probably show lots of violence in the NRA movie, all the while claiming he is making a liberal point.

Sorry. A mask of irony does not cover all sins.

But Cruz is right about violence in the movies in general. We have a sick culture that promotes violence and immorality. Cruz won’t go that far, but he has picked the right target. It’s the same hypocrisy as the Tarantino movies, all the way to the bank.

And then everyone complains about real-life violence, and real-life illegitimacy. That’s what we’re showing to the impressionable, everywhere they look.

It’s gallows humor. Tarantino is testing what you will laugh at based on the situation and tone. Besides no one I know was ‘laughing’ at it. It was shocking considering what you were laughing at earlier. There are gruesome moments that are intended to be received this way in many classic works going back centuries.
