Far below the Appalachian Mountains, in a space barely big enough to stand up straight, Bobby Combs works a job his father and his grandfather worked. Coal-mining is the highest-paying job available to him in eastern Kentucky. As he skillfully maneuvers a massive machine and rips into a seam of coal, though, Combs wonders if the family tradition ends with him.
Its not looking good, he says, dirt smudging his face.
Coal has come under the crosshairs of the Obama administration in the push to transition to renewable energy sources. Coal mines are burdened with a never-ending stream of federal regulations.
The owner of the mine where Combs works said the cost of getting coal out of the ground has tripled. For him, that means job insecurity. It seems like everything on the coal industry is under siege, everything is under attack, he said.

Sadly, I think it’s unrealistic. I got my education on this the other day in my firm’s lunchroom. I heard a couple of secretaries bashing Bush, praising Michelle. Saying how they would vote for Hillary because the economy was great under Bill. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing at the next table. The kicker - one secretary is from Trinidad and the other from Jamaica. Sickening.
Joe Munchkin is a damn liar, cheater, scammer and all-around no-good rat-bastard SOB, and he fooled a lot of people who should have known better. He ran on a pro-coal platform, famously having sued the EPA, and then shooting a copy of the "Cap and Trade" bill. He ran on a pro-gun platform; the NRA gave him an "A" rating, and endorsed him. Twice. I never trusted the smarmy creep, and I was right. Whatever Governor Manchin may have appeared to be, Senator Manchin has been nothing but Obama's butt-boy and Reid's lickspittle.
How difficult can it be to create cleaner coal burning technology? There is so much of the stuff in so many places that it is a waste not to try to develop ways to use it without choking!
Who either voted themselves into the situation, or refused to see the fraud that brought it upon them.
Burning coal is already pretty darn clean; we scrub the sulfur out of the emissions and precipitate the particulates. That’s old news. What’s new is Fedzilla decreeing that carbon dioxide is a pollutant, based on the insane ramblings of Algore and the Earth Worshipers. Since coal is essentially carbon, its primary exhaust gas is carbon dioxide. This we cannot have. Kill the humans in West Virginia, save the polar bears. Or some such drivel.
Conservative, constitutionalist PAT MCGEEHAN for US Senate!
How much money do you suppose the coal unions gave to Obama?
Pray America is Waking
Coal’s not that dirty to begin with.
And their focus is on carbon dioxide, not particulates or certain sulfur compounds (the latter of which makes them similar to volcanoes in that respect, but on a far, far smaller scale).
you are far too kind towards joe
