GLENDORA, Calif. -- Structures are burning in a wildfire threatening dozens of homes in dangerously dry foothills of Southern California's San Gabriel Mountains.
Television images showed several structures engulfed in flames fanned by gusty Santa Ana winds that spit embers across neighborhoods Thursday morning.
Evacuations are ordered for houses at the edge of the fire.

Hubby was a red carded watershed expert for 33 yrs. He spent a lot of time putting out fires started by the bugs.

Every time I read about these forest fires in California it is usually a homeless person in the woods building a fire to keep warm. Somehow the fire gets out of control.
They’re a day late and a dollar short.

When I read things like this I admit I don’t mind -25 degree temperatures.
Update: the three men who were arrested claim that it was an accident..that they set up a campfire to keep warm and they couldn’t put the fire out so they have been charged with recklessly starting a fire
I remember a year ago, we had to deal with a firebug, he would go to apartment buildings all across LA and set the car ports on fire, they eventually arrested him, turns out he was upset that his Mom was being deported back to Russia
That is exactly what the three men are claiming, that the fire went out of control, set up camp to stay warm and all hell broke loose, so they have been charged with recklessly starting a fire
Yep, there was no arson, it was 3 in their early twenties, 1 of which is homeless..
It was cased by embers from their campfire.
Set up camp to stay warm?!?, it was 75 degrees at 10 pm last night!!!!!!

They not really suspects since according to reports, they’ve already admitted it was started by embers from their camp fire.
There's a small hiking trail where a few nice glades are usually occupied by homeless. Apparently someone got up this morning and decided they were cold, and then put paper onto the fire, and the embers went flying into the nearby brush. Worst kind of arson; gross stupidity.
That’s how these people usually get away with it, watch, these men will walk, they are supposedly extremely “Remorseful” a campfire that spiraled out of control
The low bail of $20,000 tells me nothing will come of this. They’ll get a little lecture and be turned loose.
And usually with gross stupidity, they won’t serve a day in jail..its the easiest excuse to make, say you were keeping “warm” start a nice little campfire and POOF a huge fire erupts, better than saying you did it on purpose
