The bad news continues at J.C. Penney.
The ailing retailer announced Wednesday that it was cutting 2,000 jobs and closing 33 "underperforming" stores in an effort to rein in expenses.
The store closings -- listed here -- are likely to be complete by early May. J.C. Penney said it expected the moves to generate $65 million in annual cost savings.

Yeah, those ads are disgusting.
I still shop JCP because they are the only store carrying clothes that actually FIT ME without alterations. I’m happy to see they are not closing stores in my area. Also, I’ve never had a rude salesperson there, glad the workers are not getting laid off. Economy is tough enough here.
I wonder how Cheerios is doing without my support? The Publix “cheerios” are actually much better, and cheaper, and morally acceptable. (Wondering what a morally acceptable Cheerios is)
They are closing the store near us in Phillipsburg N.J. We don’t go there but we do go to other stores in the mall. I hate to see the loss of jobs. Our County (Warren) is having a tough time in this winter of recovery and this will not help. The P Burg mall will lose an anchor store and probably close. That is not good for our County as most people will go across the Delaware River to Pa.
A blind person could see this coming. When they clear isles, start all those marked down racks, it’s only a matter of time. Just like those that went before.
What are you talking about? I haven't seen anything like that here. I see a lot of RINO defense here, but never homo defense..
You do know that Publix pays Cheerios to put their name on them? You are still buying Cheerios!
Yeah, it sucked because it was going queer.
I wonder if the suburban mall is an endangered species in the US.
I know here in my corner of Europe, they’re doing good. There’s two in my town of 300,000 and a new trnice - essentially, something like a flea market with multiple vendors - will open early this summer in a long-defunct steel mill that’s being renovated.
A major mall is opening right across the border in Poland this year, this spring.
But I think that shopping malls may be on the way out in the USA.
“But I think that shopping malls may be on the way out in the USA.”
I doubt it, unless libs make them illegal. Where I live, some malls are thriving, some are struggling, and some new ones are even being built. The fate of a mall often hinges on the fate of its flagship store or - more often - on the decline of the surrounding neighborhood.
Play the enemy's own game....put the blame four-square on the perp, i.e., IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID DEMS......THANK YOU, OBAMIE THE COMMIE!

No these are not Cheerios...they are toasted oats, generic. They are not “Cheerios” ... Look like them, taste better, are larger, etc. Cost less too.
“it’s not a good idea to alienate 30% of your market to please 2%”
I can hear a loud “Amen” coming from the Cracker Barrel camp.
The faggots don’t care that their militancy is a big part of killing JCP. It’s just collateral damage in their war on morality and the family.

Exactly. I buy a lot of Great Value brands at WalMart, as they are the same as the major name brands... but cheaper.
Examples are milk, various Chex cereals, soups, frozen pancakes, etc.
I worked once for 6 weeks as a vacation relief worker at a Purex facility in the early 1960s. We bottled bleach and various other dishwashing and laundry products in containers bearing many different brands. One I recall was White Sail, which was the store brand for the A&P stores.
I think you're right.
One big reason: security. The social contract has been ruptured in so many ways, people aren't comfortable in large groups in enclosed places with no access control.
That ought to boost sales.
Penny’s management got what they asked for when they decided to pander to 1% of the population.
What possessed them to become a vehicle for promotion of sexual deviancy instead of doing their jobs of managing a profit making business?
They were the guardians of money invested by many thousands of stockholders but they placed their liberal agenda before the interests of their stockholders.
It’s too bad so many people have lost money and jobs because of their arrogance.
“I wonder if the suburban mall is an endangered species in the US.”
Oh, there’s no question about that at all. Covered malls are being torn down all over the U.S. right now and being replaced with a maze of stand-alone stores that you drive between and park in front of. This has been going on for over a decade.
Covered malls are basically dead. Too expensive to maintain. Draw hordes of feral yoots that drive off the REAL customers. And most people no longer have the money or time to “shop” by walking past a mile of boutique shops to get to the one shop they actually want to buy something from.
That’s for dang sure.
