Congressional negotiators unveiled a $1.1 trillion funding bill late Monday that would ease sharp spending cuts known as the sequester while providing fresh cash for new priorities, including President Obamas push to expand early-childhood education.
The 1,582-page bill would fully restore cuts to Head Start, partially restore cuts to medical research and job training programs, and finance new programs to combat sexual assault in the military. It would also give all federal workers a 1 percent raise.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Harold Rogers (R-Ky.) and Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) met through the weekend to put the finishing touches on the package. The pair released a joint statement late Monday, along with a photo showing them smiling happily and shaking hands.
As with any compromise, not everyone will like everything in this bill, the statement said. But in this divided government a critical bill such as this simply cannot reflect the wants of only one party.

For the pinglist
The trillion dollar bling party rolls on!
What exactly was the problem with the Sequester?
“What exactly was the problem with the Sequester?”
Rinos did not get enough pork for themselves during the Sequester.
Well... they got the massive part down pat...
Hey, they cut TSA by over 300 M and that business is being diverted to private contractors. Not a bad thing IMO.
“bipartisan compromise” means the GOP caved again. No media outlet ever calls on the Democrats to compromise, just Republicans and they always make it happen.
But less money for military retirements. Thanks Republicans for that “bipartisan compromise.”
The massive waste of "Head Start", now conclusively proven to have no effect, goes on.
It would take a Christo-sized veil in order to “unveil” something this massive.
Spending $1.1 trillion of our children’s money to reward those with political connections is a compromise?
I have a better idea. How about I list all the worthless, wasteful, and corrupt federal programs, so we can eliminate them all, and then we compromise by only eliminating half of them this year. I tried it a year ago, and I would immediately cut over $500B from the annual federal budget. That compromise will make me happy - until next year’s compromise and the year after that. We’ve had the wrong side of that compromise for decades, and the reckless and harmful spending is destroying the families liberals claim they want to help.
A bipartisan compromise that leaves the American taxpayers holding the bag, yet again.
This whole government is a criminal enterprise. Surely we can find 535 prison sells, somewhere cold and wet, with lousy food and no news feeds.
I respectfully disagree with your premise. For the gop to “cave” assumes that there was any disagreement in the first place. A colossus of this size takes the active collaboration of both wings of the uniparty.
Now, now children: move along and settle down as we continue to navigate the USA into bankruptcy. Silly peons.

A bunch of crap no doubt
Only in Washington is a 2 percent spending cut known as a sharp spending cut.
I thought it was only a 2 percent cut on future increases to spending.
