Obama On Executive Actions: ‘I’ve Got A Pen And I’ve Got A Phone’

WASHINGTON (CBS DC/AP) — Calling for “all hands on deck” to assist the economy, President Barack Obama is urging his Cabinet to identify ways to keep his administration relevant to people struggling in the up-and-down recovery.

With two weeks left before delivering an economy-focused State of the Union address to Congress, Obama is picking up the pace of his jobs message and demonstrating how he can advance his economic agenda administratively and through his ability to coax action from important interest groups.

“We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” Obama said Tuesday as he convened his first Cabinet meeting of the year.

“I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone”

This is a bit off topic, but the news I find interesting about this story is that Obama has a phone?

Watched ‘The Five’ this evening as they covered the Benghazi story re General Ham’s testimony before Congress.

The timeline of events caught my attention.

Gen Ham was able to determine within 30 seconds of being notified of the attack on the consulate that it was terrorist related. General Ham then waited for 18 minutes to notify Gen Dempsey and Panetta of the events in Syria. An hour later, Panetta and Dempsey briefed Odumbo.

So...78 minutes after the attack began, Odumbo is finally briefed???

If Ham had posted the attack on Facebook, half the world would have known about the attack within a minute.

Why wasn’t Odumbo notified immediately? Call him on his damn phone!

This points to indifference or something worse on Odumbo’s part. Was Odumbo not notified because he already knew about the attack? The 78 minutes was the story for saying that nothing could be done?

By contrast, on Dec 7, 1941, FDR was notified of the Japanese attack 35 minutes after the first bombs were dropped on Hawaii. Think what he could have done with Facebook.

Something is not right here...
