Lesson No. 1: Publicly questioning the motives and intentions of a woman who is seriously ill with cancer can land you in a heap of controversy.
Writer Emma Gilbey Keller and her husband, former New York Times executive editor Bill Keller, seem to have found this out over the past few days. In a successive pair of columns in different publications, the Kellers opined about the prodigious tweets of a woman named Lisa Bonchek Adams, a Stage IV breast cancer patient in New York and both reaped a whirlwind of outrage in the process.
For months, Adams, a mother of three, has been writing about her illness in 140-character bursts tens of thousands of tweets detailing her treatment, condition and thoughts about an illness that has spread throughout her body. Her Twitter feed, followed by more than 10,000 people, is a painful chronicle of her decline, as well as a hopeful journal of optimism in the face of advancing darkness.

The reaction was swift and angry.
Well, one thing for sure. That liberals are a compassionate, caring, concerned specie of human being is every bit the lie as is everything else they say, espouse.
Nothing I have heard about Keller would suggest he is anything but an asshole.
Remember when the liberals went after Palin for having not aborted her living down syndrome son?
Any wonder why folks don't trust reporters anymore.
A veritable proctologist’s dream, a perfect a-hole.
Attacking the morals and ethics of critics seem to be their only remaining weapon. They attacked Gates’ memoir the same way.
This cancer patient is just the first in a wave that will encompass all of those who have the misfortune to become ill while we have socialized medicine. Already I’m hearing “The problem is they let private profit seeking companies run it when the government should be running it.”
Lord save us. (What, we have to save ourselves?!)
Bill is just worried that Adams’ tweets will undermine the death panels and the NYT cannot editorially stand for that.
Sure...all of you cancer patients, take this pain pill, drop your laundry, and head for the “showers”.
More dignified and much more efficient, eh Mr. Heller?
The National Socialists began using the “Showers” because it was more humane and less expensive than wasting ammunition shooting the undesirables in the back of the head.
These lefty clowns were wondering how appropriate it’s was for this woman’s story to be on twitter. Why do these clowns read it? Read something else if it bothers you.
I personally don’t DO social networking. I believe it is a sure way to get oneself unwanted attention. Though I assume the author used it as a blog and good for her

KELLER ON ABORTION: Self-anointed advocates for the unborn need to stay out of abortion debate"
EDITED---"The self-anointed advocates for the unborn have no inherent place in the matter. Nature entrusted the life of this new creature to its mother not to lawyers or legislators and it is between a woman and her conscience."
Keller of the New York Times rresponded to a letter to the editor asking him to share his rationale for supporting abortion rights.
Kellers rationale comes from personal experience more than anything else. Kellers experience led him to a place of support for abortion (unlike those of the pro-life Silent No More group).....
.....while Keller acknowledges wholeheartedly that [n]ature entrusted the life of this new creature to its mother, he doesnt make the logical conclusion that the new creature (the pre-born child) has any value. In fact, he goes on to conclude that it is between a woman and her conscience [whether to abort].
NARAL President Ilyse Hogue, heartily praised Kellers piecemeal conclusion that although the unborn are entrusted to their mothers, their mothers alone (and anyone else they invite into the decision) have a say in what happens to these new lives:
The idea that someone other than God (or nature, however you see it) has sole dominion over the life and death of children is not new or rare. In China, the government claims this authority. In ancient Rome, the paterfamilias, or head of the household, had the right to determine whether his newborn children would be welcomed into the family or left in the hills to be ravaged by wild animals or succumb to the elements.

From further down in the article.....:::”There, more routinely than in the United States, patients are offered the option of being unplugged from everything except pain killers and allowed to slip peacefully from life, he wrote. His death seemed to me a humane and honorable alternative to the frantic medical trench warfare that often makes an expensive misery of death in America......spoken like a true liberal. except for Keller’s wife who apparently had a double masectomy. I’m sure they would spare no expense for Mrs. Keller’s treatments

LATE TERM ABORTION WORSHIPPERS IN THE WH---In February 2004, US Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from performing p/b abortions (stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls).
Michelle Obama considers partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure," and asked supporters for $150 to attend a luncheon for her candidate husband, b/c he would fight against "cynical ploys" to stop p/b sbortions.
(NOTE: nurses at an Illinois hospital in 1999 discovered babies were being aborted alive and placed on shelves in soiled utility rooms to die unattended.)
BACKGROUND Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted.
BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the US House.
NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.
But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. It only passed in 2005, after Obama left. Obama articulately asserted that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights.
In 2003, as chairman of the next state Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion chambers.
(NOTE As chair of that same committee, state Sen Obama once abruptly ended a hearing early, right before the parents of six children killed as a result of Illinois' drivers licenses-for-bribes scandal, were to testify in favor of Choose Life license plate legislation. Obama stalled. He later killed the bill when no one was around.)
Shooting was in fact more humane than the ghastly experience of herding two hundred men, women an children naked into a space hardly enough for 150. The lights would then be turned off, the posion gas pellets poured in from a glass enclosure up above so they could watch the victims suffocating under extreme terror and agony. The victims would die, their bodies climbing over each other struggling to get some air that remained. After several minutes the doors were opened, the dead bodies covered with feces were removed and ended up in the crematorium.
The ruse of using the "showers" was not a money saving device but one in which huge groups of people could be kept calm, unsuspecting of any danger about to befall them.
arrogant snobs deserve stage 4 terminal cancer & a slow painful death!
My intent was to highlight cruelty of Mr. Heller’s “take a pill and die” recommendation. “Efficient and humane” was intended as sarcasm.
The Romneys. Apostrophes are your friends and shouldn’t (note correct use of apostrophe here) be terribly mystifying. The rules are actually quite simple.
Doctors will have instructions to administer "miscarriages" and postnatal abortions that will be explained to the mothers as having been "stillbirths."
Another thought- The political use of “death panels” is a given. Will they decree “stillbirth” or surreptitiously induced abortions for the foetal progeny of politically incorrect patients?
No question.
