Network news viewers are declining in unprecedented rates, from an average of 48 million nightly network news viewers in 1985 to 24.5 million in 2013, according to Pew Research analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.

Young people aged 18-29 are the least likely to watch network news regularly (only 11 percent did so in 2012), and 49 percent of people in this age group say they never watch the news.

But that's what Governor Palin is doing.

Why do you think Bristol Palin went on "Dancing with the stars?"

Why was Palin one of the first to take full advantage of Facebook and Twitter?

Her "Sarah in Alaska" show also, and then you have the C4P website that does the live-blogging for her and acts as her de-facto secretary.

Republicans should have been doing this, and yes, start making appearances not only on Stewart and Colbert, but on other late-night shows as well.

What I find amazing is that the networks are continually paying the news anchors more with each new contract, despite the fact that fewer people tune in year after year. It’s not just the buffoons who get their news from The Daily Show that are stupid, you know. The heads of the network news departments are morons, also, for paying more money in order to attract fewer and fewer eyeballs.

Tv news is awful! Especially the alphabet channels.

You get much better news within five minutes on the radio from those stations that still have top of the hour news.

Meanwhile, LBN or FR is great!

And yet....we’re more awash in libtards than ever.

Well, they don't have to watch the news. But they're still required to go to school each day. On balance, much more damaging to the soul than TV.

The networks still do news? I did not know that.

What I'm talking about is 100 times bigger than anything that's being done today. Conservatives need to be either buying control of movie studios, record labels, video game production companies, professional sports teams, etc, or starting their own altogether. We need create a whole conservative=patriotic pop culture, with our own versions of Stewart, Colbert, SNL, and a whole slew of actors, actresses, musicians, an so on.

I read a while back that the Koch brothers were buying up liberal newspapers around the country...well that's great, but who reads newspapers anymore? The 50 and older set, which is right now in charge of the nation. What happens, though, when they all retire, and Generation.com takes the reins? Holy crap! If you think tings are bad now, jut wait 'til those know-nothings take over. Think you'll have a happy retirement? Yeah right...they'll raid your 401Ks, portfolios and pensions to pay for runaway Social Security and Mediscare, and the myriad social programs they thought were so cool when they were in their 20s and 30s. The people we need to be reaching are the young people, not those who still read newspapers, belong to the Heritage Foundation, and watch TV news.

What Sarah Palin is doing is a good first step, but it's only a baby step. I think Glenn Beck has made a bigger move in the right direction with his Blaze Network, just he needs some better programming...what he has on now is lame.

I don't know how to go about making it happen, but some enterprising soul out there needs to create a fund through which conservatives can pool their money, to buy control of cable TV systems, TV networks, movie studios, record labels, sports teams, etc. Then they need to find conservative/patriotic artists, and promote them, instead of the likes of Tina Fey, Kanye West and Jon Stewart. Generation.commers aren't going to go looking for their entertainment, they're going to watch what's on when they turn on the TV. They're going to listen to whatever's on their favorite radio station. If we're going to get our conservative/patriotic message out to them, we have to acquire the means to deliver the message, and put it in a package they'll accept.

It's a huge undertaking, but it has to happen...and right freakin' now. Otherwise, we can just kiss our Republic goodbye in 10-15 years , when Generation.com starts getting elected to office. If Generation X (my generation) hasn't blown it all before then, that is.

The watch “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report”. That’s why they voted like dimwits in the last two elections.

They also think that "60 Minutes" is a news show.

Describes my 20-yr-old stepdaughter and her contemporaries to a T.

OTOH, hubby and I don't watch anything called "news" on TV, either, and haven't in years. Occasionally he'll pick up a newspaper. Otherwise it's FR and other internet sources for our info.

TV news is the worst form of news that there is. Shallow, sensational and biased to the left. If you rely on TV for your news, you are not only ill-informed, you are also an idiot.

Poor ol barbra just can’t be believed.

“seven in 10 (53 percent) “

She has pretty severe problems with basic arithmetic.

Seven in ten = .70 * 100 = 70 %

Not 53%

At first I thought “No wonder they’re misinformed.” Then I realized this is actually good news. Less and less are being brainwashed by the liberal media.

“Have read that the grunge generations think the Comedy Channel shows are legitimate news, that is where they get their opinions...”

That is absolutely correct; it was the source of the nonsense line about Palin (”I can see Russia from my house”), and nearly 100% of people under 50 believe she said it.

Very dangerous...

Well put.
