Duckhorn Wine Company has a history of going after wineries that dare to use a duck in their names or labels.
But this time, the winery is hunting a potentially tougher target: the self-professed redneck royalty of the hit A&E TV show Duck Dynasty.
The Napa Valley winery is going after the Duck Dynasty folks because theyve used the word Duck and an image of a duck on their wines.
Thats right: the reality TV stars with the motto Faith, Family and Facial Hair who made their fortune selling duck hunting gear have launched a wine brand, called Duck Commander.
In November, the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty fame collaborated with Trinchero Family Estates to produce three wines from California grapes: Triple Threat red blend, Wood Duck chardonnay and Miss Priss pink moscato.

Everyone send a copy of this thread to the idiots at Duckhorn.
How about Howard the Duck?
If anything, it would only spur the sales of their Wine to people who think they are buying the Duck Commander product.
Anybody wanna buy a duck?
But I can't seem to find the commercial.
Wonder if the "Cold Duck" people sued them.
May it be a Cold Duck in Hell for these parasites.
Duckhorn once made a reasonably good wine at a reasonable price.
Garth Brooks holds a copyright on the letter "G" and he defends it aggressively. Glenn Beck found out the hard way.

I know a guy who got a divorce about 5 years ago. His wife got the company and he intended to start a new one. She sued to stop him from using the color red in his logo. And won.
He spent thousand and thousands of dollars just trying to get away from the crazy bitch. She sued his customers. Finally he told their kids he was going to snuff her out then commit suicide. They went and talked to her and told her they’d help their dad if that’s what it took. She finally backed off. Her company is almost gone.
It’ll cost the Robertsons a lot of money to fight this. They’ve got a lot of money. But they’re going to have to run the numbers to see if it’s worth it.
Remember some years ago Chrysler sued a guy who owned a bar called “Jeep’s”? He eventually won when he proved that he was born before Jeeps came out.
Back in the early sixties Holiday Inn sued a small motel called Holiday Sands. Holiday Inn lost.
I never heard of the "Duckhorn Wine Company." But I sure know about Duck Dynasty!
Maybe the unknown Duckhorn folks are suing in order to get some publicity. I do not associate ducks with wine in any event.
I checked to see if Duckhorn had a camouflage pattern on their labels, but no. There is no chance of confusion, or of Dynasty benefiting from Duckhorn's reputation, just an opportunity for free publicity mentioning an obscure brand.
So, what about Cold Duck?
They will lose bigtime. Phil will win.
The feds have to approve all booze labels, so why not go after them as well? Then there’s the people purchasing and consuming it . . .
