Obamacare's biggest problem isn't the troubled HealthCare.gov website anymore.
Consumers are easing up on criticism of government exchanges and turning their frustration and fury toward some of the nation's biggest health insurers. All too often, new policyholders say, the companies can't confirm coverage, won't answer basic questions, and haven't issued identification numbers needed to fill prescriptions or get medical care.
Day after day, people say, they contact insurance company call centers waiting hours at a time with no response. Meantime, insurers have already taken many customers' payments for coverage intended to take effect Jan. 1.
But without proof of insurance, patients are having to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for medications and doctor visits, if they can afford it. Insurance agents say dismal service has become commonplace across many companies.

Sorry to disagree but with “If you like your Doctor and your plan... you can keep them... period” and “We have to pass it to see what is in it”... will not allow the demon party to escape... not this time! The media cannot hide the pain and destruction from the people that are experiencing it.
It certainly is a familiar theme with the MSM. My question, wasn’t the purpose of the exchanges to promote rate competition? Are the admitting failure?
Being a crony capitalist doesn't prevent you from being a sucker with a knife in your back.
Let’s get back to basics:
With a deductible of over $6000, and much higher co-pays, the average medical patient in the USA at the beginning of the “covered year’ will have to pay all of their early costs out of their pockets, anyway.
Getting such payments onto your account records will be the next major hurdle.
Mark my words.
“Sorry to disagree but with If you like your Doctor and your plan... you can keep them... period and We have to pass it to see what is in it... will not allow the demon party to escape... not this time! The media cannot hide the pain and destruction from the people that are experiencing it.”
I’m with the first poster. When you have a corrupt, complicit media and a stupid public, it’s hard to lose. Throw in the fact that the GOP-e really wants the power that obamacare grants them, and therefore, won’t hit the issue like the should, and it’s hard to imagine this costing the Dems.
Yeah, those greedy insurance companies. But to paraphrase Milton Friedman, Did the insurance companies become greedy this year?
“Come! Come and join the Democrat party! We care about you. We’re on your side! We’ll help you. We’re your friends! Your soul? Oh, don’t worry about that. You don’t need it. We’re here for you. Free money! Free food! Free healthcare! And we ask so little in return. Yes, I do have a limousine and a mansion, but that’s only to help get the free money for you. I don’t enjoy them. Come! Come and join the Democrat party!”
The Obama Administration Culture is based on lies, persecution of political opponents, and violating the US Constitution.
Not surprisingly the progressives say :”None of these problems would happen under Medicaid for ALL as Medicaid is loved by everyone who gets it and doesnt depend on greedy insurers.”
Of course there's a few flaws in this ?
Can you guess what they are?
I agree.
The problem for Dems here is that the negative impacts of what they thought would be a shallow and incremental slope to single payer are happening BANG BANG BANG!
To fast for anyone to escape the conclusion that the problems are with anything other than the law itself.
The Dems own panicked reactions belie the danger they know they are facing. There’s no way that Dingy Harry would have ever pulled the trigger on the nuclear option, for instance, if he thought there was a chance his side would retain the Senate next year.
Why would healthcare insurance industry (which opposed Hillarycare before) came on board with Obamacare? They thought they can write off the loss (plus ‘interest’) by absorbing the uninsured to the tax payers, after all Obama guaranteed it, didn’t it?
Any other industry CEOs and leaders taking notes? Next time Dems / Obama set sights on you, this is the ‘object lesson’ to take home.
Industry officials say the disastrous launch of the federal exchange and the ever-changing rules from the Obama administration have complicated their job and contributed to the backlog.
Something the article says that only a THINKING person will understand.
“Health plans have gone above and beyond to protect consumers from disruptions caused by the ongoing problems with HealthCare.gov” said Robert Zirkelbach, spokesman for America’s Health Insurance Plans. “The last-minute changes to deadlines and rules have made the process more complicated and time-consuming.”
So....it’s I’m not sure why anyone with 2 functioning brain cells could blame any insurer when the rules change about as often as Obama changes his panties.
Yep. They are getting ready for the final “solution”. The one every commie wants.
Well said. Short and sweet.
The Obama Administration Culture is based on lies, persecution of political opponents, and violating the US Constitution.
Under the leadership of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House John Boehner, the GOP Establishment Congressional Culture is based on becoming more like the Obama Administration Culture.
By design, the GOP Establishment has become a doormat speed bump for Obamacrat politicians on the very wide, and well lighted Highway to European Socialism.
Without the capable cave-in expertise of McConnell and Boehner, the successful fundamental transformation of America into a weak, financially devastated, morally corrupt, unreliable, former World Power would not have been possible.
To those US Senators and House members who still support McConnell and Boehner, remember Einsteins definition of insanity:
INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.
Slimes reporting according to the script, like the good little toads they are.
The mainstream media (LA Times, for example) will now do all they can to shift the blame for the Obamacare mess to the insurance companies. Never mind the fact that the insurance companies have been subject to endless last minute rule changes and have received bad data (or no data) from the Obamacare website. Sadly, the stupid folks who signed up for Obamacare are all too willing to help shift the blame.
