North Carolina Rep. Mike McIntyre and New York Rep. Carolyn McCarthy will not seek reelection this year, according to multiple Democratic sources familiar with their plans marking a blow to Democratic efforts to win control of the House.
The 57-year-old McIntyre, who was elected in 1996 to the Wilmington-area congressional seat, narrowly defeated Republican state Sen. David Rouzer in 2012 and was poised to face him in a 2014 rematch. His retirement from the heavily Republican district will further thin the ranks of Blue Dog Democrats. It comes less than a month after another Blue Dog, Utah Rep. Jim Matheson, said his current term would be his last.
Republicans, who are trying to defend a 17-seat House majority, say those retirements show that Democrats in conservative districts are growing concerned about running for reelection when a debate over the bungled Obamacare roll-out is taking center stage.

If it wasnt clear before with the retirement of Rep. Jim Matheson, todays announcement from Rep. Mike McIntyre solidifies the extremely difficult road ahead for Democrats in 2014, Oregon Rep. Greg Walden, the National Republican Congressional Committee chairman, said in a statement.
But departures are creating opportunities for Democrats, too. The recent retirements of four Republicans in swing districts Pennsylvania Rep. Jim Gerlach, New Jersey Rep. Jon Runyan, Virginia Rep. Frank Wolf, and Iowa Rep. Tom Latham have allowed Democrats to compete for those seats.
McCarthys Long Island-area district is also a swing seat, but it will be easier for Democrats to retain than McIntyres.
The 70-year-old McCarthy, who also was elected in 1996, announced in June that she was undergoing treatment for lung cancer. She arrived in Congress after her husband and son were both shot in a December 1993 incident on the Long Island Rail Road. McCarthys husband, Dennis, was killed, while her son survived. She has been a key proponent of gun control during her time in office.
Burn in Hell. And before I get too many "That's so tasteless!" keep in mind that that old hag would have been just as happy to do door to door gun confiscation and it wouldn't have bothered her if you and yours were burned alive in the process.
“... “That’s so tasteless!”...”
It ain’t, and you’re spot-on.
Not one of them would bat an eye, nor lose one moment of sleep if the federal stosstruppen were turned loose on American citizens.
“Burn in Hell.”
HEY!
What did Hell ever do to you?
You are no longer on the "List."
Not you Orangedog.

Not tasteless at all. If anything SHE’S the tasteless one by dancing on her hubby’s grave and exploiting her son’s life-threatening gunshot wounds at the hands of Colin-cancer Ferguson. During her first campaign, the Lifetime network hobbled together a chick flick, the Carolyn McCarthy story, even though years earlier none of the networks would so much as show an old Bonzo movie during the times Pres Reagan ran for office in the interest of “fairness”. The sure as hell wouldn’t air “Storm Warning” where Reagan, in the roll as a DA put the KKK in a very negative light to say the least. Wouldn’t want to shatter the libs perceptions now do we? The thing that really made me call BS on her, was during the 94 congressional race, on Steve Malsberg’s show on WABC, she flatly denied the Ferguson was racially motivated. Even though NYPD detectives already announced at a presser they found his apartment cluttered with notebooks filled with anti-White diatribes. To me this was more pathetic than the time Mary-Jo Buttafuco was running around denying Joey cheated on her. At least Mary-Jo eventually wised up and divorced the SOB.
Well, if they could keep their damned demons on a leash I never would have met my ex-wife.
I would like to say that it's too bad any "Blue Dog" Democrats are retiring, because if they're in heavy Democratic districts, their replacements are likely to be very left-leaning progessives.
Rep. McCarthy notwithstanding, of course. Lol!
Some things just speak for themselves....

#6. You never met my ex-mother-in-law. The Devil could never get the best of her and was smart enough not to try.
Singing “Mother-In-Law”. Calling Ernie Kaydo. You’re needed again at the recording studio.
She was the ultimate back bencher!
She was the ultimate back bencher!
I remember when mccarthy ran for office for the very first time. Claiming she was a republican and the only reason why she was running on the democrat ticket was because of the gun control issue. She said she still agreed with the republicans on all other issues except for gun control.
A couple weeks later I saw a clip of her on the campaign trail blasting the republicans on social security and medicare, using propaganda right out of the dnc handbook. Accusing the republicans of wanting to throw seniors out into the cold streets. So much for her claims of agreeing with republicans on everything but guns.
The reason why she won was because her republican opponent waited until the last minute to start campaigning. Mccarthy had been campaigning since the beginning of the year. Her opponent didn’t start until september, only a couple months before the election. And even then he was AWOL every now and then like ducking out of planned televised debates. I guess he didnt want to be seen as insensitive, arguing with a woman who lost a loved one to gun violence.
After she got elected, her liberal rating hovered around 60 percent. As the years passed it rose to around 90 percent liberal.
When I saw the headline my first thoughts were along the lines of, “Hmmm... Kim Jong Un needs a frumpy, matronly-looking, doctrinaire Communist advisor, now that his aunt has reportedly been shoved out of the picture. Carolyn McCarthy would be an ideal candidate for that position. I wonder whether...”
One loud liberal woman down, a gazillion more to go - make that two, can’t forget about Mikey.
How many Dems from conservative districs are retiring? How many R are retiring?
