Amiri Baraka died Thursday after weeks of failing health, a family spokeperson confirmed. He was 79. A playwright, poet, critic and activist, Baraka was one of the most prominent and controversial African American voices in the world of American letters.
He was born Everett LeRoi Jones on Oct. 7, 1934, in Newark, N.J. A gifted student, he graduated from high school two years early and went to college at New York University and Howard University. After serving in the Air Force for more than two years, Baraka -- then Jones -- was dishonorably discharged for reading communist texts.

“LeRoi Jones is dead?”
Thanks for reminding me of his original name.
I will say RIP as I enjoyed some of his stuff back in the day.
Then he did something moronic, which made me hate him (I forget what precisely), but as my brother used to say “in death all is remembered”.
So, RIP Mr. Jones.
While I've always harbored nothing but contempt for LeRoi Jones, it's always been puzzling how this human drecht managed to obtain such aura of respectability as a Yale professor.
I hope he was better at poetry than he was at naming things.
(He wasn't.)
Kerouac was right about Leroi Jones , Ginsberg and others in the beat movement in the 60’s when he called them all Communists .
Another dead red. Yippee! About time. The man was a walking talking hate machine and a Communist Party hack to boot (along with his daughter Amini).
At least he was semi-literate. That now leaves us with the academic blithering idiots of Michael Eric or Eric Michael Dyson, LaMont Hill (a nice red, but..), Al Sharpton (mister mushmouth), Jesse Jackson Sr (liar par excellent), and Sheila Lee Jackson (who continues to murder Mother English like the hordes of Ghengis Khan did the peasants of the Eurasian Steppes.
And now you know why ...!!!!
Never heard of it/him/whatever. If what is written here is that he is another deadbeat liberal nut case, so I will not miss him.
Leeeeeeroiiiiiii Jones!!!
I can't say that America, indeed mankind, may not better off.
Good riddance to bad rubbish!
Leroi Jones AKA Amiri Baraka ( At one time the official Poet Laureate of the state of New Jersey)
Quote:
“Rape the white girls.
Rape their fathers.
Cut the mothers throats.
from Black Dada Nihilismus.
More quotes from Amiri Baraka, one time Poet Laureate of New Jersey and NY college professor.
Quote:
Most American white men are trained to be fags. For this reason it is no wonder their faces are weak and blank.
The average ofay [white person] thinks of the black man as potentially raping every white lady in sight. Which is true, in the sense that the black man should want to rob the white man of everything he has.
But for most whites the guilt of the robbery is the guilt of rape. That is, they know in their deepest hearts that they should be robbed, and the white woman understands that only in the rape sequence is she likely to get cleanly, viciously popped.[21]
More race hatred from New Jersey’s former Poet Laureate:
Quote:
You cant steal nothin from a white man.
Hes already stole it He owes you anything you want, even his life.
All the stores will open up if you will say the magic words.
The magic words are: Up against the wall motherf**ker this is a stick up!
Thanks for posting that, you beat me to it! I’m certainly glad this hateful POS is dead. May he rot in hell.
Amiri Baraka (poet laureate of the state of New Jersey): When I die, the consciousness I carry I will to black people. May they pick me apart and take the useful parts, the sweet meat of my feelings. And leave the bitter bullshit rotten white parts alone. (from his classic Leroy) [John McAlpin, NJ Gov. Seeks Authority to Fire Poet, AP, Oct. 6, 2002.]
Lol.
Great quotes; after a life spent hating, what does he see around him before he meets his maker?
Good riddance...
Good riddance of bad rubbish! The world is now a better place.
