Police are investigating whether an incident involving a man punching a woman in the face for no apparent reason is related to the "Knockout Game."
Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department said just after 4:30 p.m. Monday officers responded to a call of an assault and battery in the 14000 block of Blossom Hill Road. Witnesses told police a man confronted a woman in a strip mall parking lot and struck her in the face with a single closed fist.
The victim fell to the ground and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Manny Singh, who owns the nearby Los Gatos Pizza, said he saw the victim after the incident.
"She was crying. She was crying really bad," he said. "She said she didn't do anything wrong. I don't know what happened to her."
The suspect ran away after the incident and before officers arrived on scene, police said.
Some people at a dance studio located near where the crime occurred are concerned that the attack is connected to a national phenomenon called the "Knockout Game."
The game involves people attempting to knock out unsuspecting victims with a single sucker punch for amusement purposes, according to police. Investigators, however, said they do not have enough evidence to connect the crime to the game.
"There is no specific indication that it is part of the Knockout Game, but again we're not ruling out any of those motives," Sgt. Clinton Tada said.
The suspect is described as an African American adult in his early- to mid-20s, 5 foot 9 inches to 6 feet tall, slender build and short, brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap backwards.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department at 408-354-8600.
The article says the perp was ‘african American’.
“Northern CA doesnt have a lot of AAs...”
Have you been to Oakland?
Forgive me...my sense of direction might be screwed up here but as I recall, 17 runs from the Santa Clara valley east and west with LG being on the northern side of 17...at least, that’s how I remember it growing up there from 1963 to 1977....
Yeah, but that’s the east bay and probably the only enclave, next to East Palo Alto, that has a bunch...any other place in No CA has few if any...
I’m talking bodies per area here, ok?
I knew what you meant...just having some fun with you.
I grew up in San Jose.
ROFL I never heard of that body part. Is this something new? Do women only have or do both sexes have it?
Who cares if these assaults were done as a game? We need to see some ass whoopings, self defense shootings and arrests with harsh convictions.
LOL. Thanks for that.
I think you are not fully informed. Alameda County is about 13% black, twice the state average. Contra Costa County is 10%, San Francisco County is 6%. Sacramento County is more than 15%.
How much of each was the perp?
17 is actually considered to go North/South, but I can see how you’d think otherwise. Los Gatos is on both sides of 17.
I don’t know. In fact, I believe this is the very first time I have ever used that term ever.
It might also be gender related. Perhaps this creep hates women too. Would that be considered a “hate crime”.
Was the perp an immigrant? What part of the continent of Africa is the perp attached to? ... Perhaps he would like to be sent back there, so we need more specific location than just the whole continent.
The assailant was one of O’s sons.
But because of where this took place I would think it is more likely to be a bad break up between former hook up couple.
OK, but I still maintain it does not compare per square mile to states in the east....
it can be viewed that way. many of us view it this way (right or wrong): downtown old Los Gatos on the Saratoga side of 17 and Blossom Hill neighborhood of Los Gatos on the San Jose side of 17.
how’s that?
some of us view 17 as running north and south (since it goes to Oakland on the north and Santa Cruz on the south).
if seen this way, then old downtown LG (Saratoga side) is west and Blossom Hill district (San Jose/Gilroy) side is east.
sort of anyway.
thanks
Cat? Euphemistic designation not withstanding, must have been a really low blow.
