it can be viewed that way. many of us view it this way (right or wrong): downtown old Los Gatos on the Saratoga side of 17 and Blossom Hill neighborhood of Los Gatos on the San Jose side of 17.
how’s that?

some of us view 17 as running north and south (since it goes to Oakland on the north and Santa Cruz on the south).

if seen this way, then old downtown LG (Saratoga side) is west and Blossom Hill district (San Jose/Gilroy) side is east.

sort of anyway.

Well, the 17, running up the east bay side, isn’t really 17, you know.
I’m from the west side of the bay and spent many years ignoring the east side...17 went to the beach - that’s ALL that mattered! Old Town LG is all that mattered too...great bars, etc.
Trying to tell all the “communities” of the SF Bay Area apart is too difficult to contemplate...typical CA sprawl.
