Some conservatives see the ballot box as their only means of recourse against an out-of-control government. But over the last three national elections, including the 2010 midterm elections that propelled the Republicans to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives, things havent worked out as planned.
Mark Levin, author of The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic, charts a path to reel in the growth of this ever-expanding federal leviathan by harnessing the sentiment that inspired the Tea Party movement.
In a three-hour interview he conducted with C-SPAN that aired Sunday night, he praised the Tea Party movement and explained what their grievances are with the current state of the union.
Thank God for the Tea Party, Levin said.
"The Tea Party is the modern-day conservative constitutional movement. And without it, the debt would be bigger. The unfunded liabilities would be bigger and the federal government would be even more consolidated. So, I think it is a crucially important movement. I think it needs to grow and I think if the Republican Party wants to go to war, apparently it does, with the Tea Party movement, then the Republican Party is going to lose because the Tea Party is, there as I say in Ameritopia, is nothing more than citizens hard-working, taxpaying citizens that have had enough, who see the $90, now $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities, see the massive federal debt just more, more and more, see the fecklessness of the Republican Party, see the radicalness of the Democratic Party and they say enough is enough."
Levin anticipates a defeat for the Republican Party if it tries to go to war with the Tea Party...

Amen.
We have a Constitutional Convention right now. It is ongoing, taking place in Congress. And it is illegal and unconstitutional.
Article V is not the way to go. Its a nice thought but will never happen. The 10th ammendment will ultimately be what takes the Fed govt down and puts control back in the hands of the people. That is my biggest argument with Levin.
Thank you very much. I am having trouble.
There really is no other way. Washington is hopeless. Only an Article V. convention will even have a chance to save our Republic.
And every time the Supreme Court meets we have a Constitutional Convention. And every time Obama issues more executive orders we have a constitutional convention. And every time his executive departmetns and agencies issue more administrative law and regualtions, we have a constitutional convention!
THE SYSTEM IS OFFICIALLY OUT OF CONTROL. Only an Article V. process can even BEGIN to deal with it.
I think you may have missed some of the messaging going on that is purposely being avoided by the media. Just his morning Dick Durbin spoke to the press and went out of his way to blame the Tea Party for the lack of consilliatory spirit in the Senate. He is taking direct aim at Cruz, Lee and Paul.
We have a growing Convention of States movement that was secured for us by Article V of the Constitution which is explained here in simple terms. Those that wish to ignore this firm element of our country's founding are deserving of the tyranny that is surely coming our way.
You can become involved with little effort and help us build steam as we head to the May assembly in Indiana.
I didn’t! He was wonderful!
Through an Article V convention :p ? I pray anyhow and I am hopeful.
I hated two weeks without Levin. I hurry dinner so I can sit down with my pups and watch our fish tank while I listen to Levin. Love that man!
With the two parties of government combined.
They are the “Uniparty” Ping!

Well, the secret is out. We also plan dinner around the start of Levin’s show.
I'd have to give BenLurkin the nod on this one...if you ask the GOP-e, they would say "there are waaaaay too many GOP members who are waaaaay too liberal Conservative."
I think Levin is missing something critical. Something I don’t have the talent to articulate very well. I’ll try to explain it. First, the Liberty Amendments are a great idea, when dealing with a government who doesn’t already wield absolute power. Their sinews run throughout government. Any gains made through this process will be minimized or annulled by judges, congress, presidents, the EPA, the IRS, or any combination of cynical organizations. Second, the people of America, the Lowinfos, will undue what’s accomplished through continuing to vote for people who will dissolve our liberty. Third, Its success is uncertain. We’ll have to win elections, hearts, and minds, and hope we can hold those we’ve elected accountable. Our liberty has already been stripped by the system we’re trying to utilize to gain it back. This is folly. If we can’t win elections, hearts, and minds, are we to give up on liberty?
I’m fore the state convention process and attempting to amend the constitution, but when (not if) that fails, nullification and the resulting CWII should. Nullification, though perhaps unconstitutional (I would argue it is constitutional) at least recognizes that our constitution has been breached by the feds. Our founders understood that acts of tyranny were grounds for forceful self defense.
State nullification recognizes that the Union is broken and it’s foolish to pretend it isn’t.
The Democrats blame everyone else for their failures. The Tea Party is just the latest target.
The problem in this country is that we’re not following the Constitution as it’s written right now. Our government isn’t even following the very laws it itself passes (see Obamacare.)
What good will a Constitutional Convention do if the same old politicians who are in charge and don’t care right now are in charge and don’t care after?
You have no way of punishing them. And if they’ll ignore laws they don’t like, why would you expect them to follow election laws?
We have a real, serious problem.
I know presently it’s the only solution we have. But I don’t think it’s going to work.
I’ve been wrong before though. And I hope to GOD I’m wrong now...
You’ve nailed it. Levin knows the system is thoroughly corrupt, but the process he proposes pretends it isn’t. Are they going to say, “Alright States, you win, we’ll stick to budgets, term limits and what not.”?
