I’ve talked to several “conservative” freepers who openly gushed about how wonderful her dear ol’ daddy Sam Nunn was. Of course, they “lost a lot of respect for him” when Sam Nunn endorsed Obama. I guess the idea that one pro-abortion gun-grabbing RAT would endorse another pro-abortion gun-grabbing RAT was news to them.

Another freeper pointed out to Impy and I that Sam Nunn was “conservative by DEMOCRAT standards”, but nowhere near as conservative as a typical Republican. That may be a valid argument. The problem was that many Georgia “Republicans” seemed to be happier when the RATs were in the power (Nunn, Miller, Barnes, etc.) than members of “their” party.

Look no further than their representation in the U.S. Senate. If Zell Miller had replaced a far-left marxist like Al Franken, it would be understandable that freepers were pleased with the direction he took that Senate seat. Insetad, he replaced a solidly conservative Republican (Paul Coverdell) and moved the Senate seat to the LEFT, voting to put Tom Daschle in power. They cheered him on every step of the way and were sad to see him go and replaced with a Republican.

I have railed here multiple times about the modern Democrat myth of the Great Sam Nunn. It has been reinvigorated by his mousy daughter’s foray into the politics of the nepotism and ‘glom-on’. She will not win, even with contributions from outside the state.

The legacy of Sam Nunn here today in Georgia is that a hell of a lot of people don’t even make the connection of her to him. He was proclaimed a ‘defense expert’ by himself and the media, and the Democrat voters don’t care about defense; it’s entitlement for them.

Her voters would be the same people that elected Representative Hank “That island will tip over if you put too many people on one side” Johnson. And, the other older people (Democrats) who would take the bait are largely dead.

Nunn ‘retired’ in 1996 and went on to set himself up in partnership with the University System and the boards of directors for several corporations. Before his daughter’s entrance on the scene state-wide, I hadn’t heard his name in the news in over a decade.

My family have been Georgians since before the Civil War. I was born here and have stayed here except for 8 years service overseas in the 60s and 70s. So, I hold no special regard for any Georgia Democrat, except two: Congressman Larry MacDonald, and Governor Zell Miller in his very late years of public office and after. You should read about MacDonald and if you get a chance, skim through Miller’s “A National Party No More.”

You’ll see a lot of DNC money flow in here for her, but in the end, she’ll lose if we Conservative Georgians here do our job in the Republican Primary and elect someone not beholding to the RNC or endorsed by Chambliss/Isakson. (BTW, Isakson will get his in 2016 primary)
