Group Unveils Satan Statue Design For Oklahoma SEAN MURPHY

This artists rendering provided by the Satanic Temple shows a proposed monument that the New York-based Satanic group wants to place at the Oklahoma state Capitol. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A satanic group unveiled designs Monday for a 7-foot-tall statue of Satan it wants to put at the Oklahoma state Capitol, where a Ten Commandments monument was placed in 2012.

Fla. rejects request to install Satanic display Associated Press The New York-based Satanic Temple formally submitted its application to a panel that oversees the Capitol grounds, including an artist's rendering that depicts Satan as Baphomet, a goat-headed figure with horns, wings and a long beard that's often used as a symbol of the occult. In the rendering, Satan is sitting in a pentagram-adorned throne with smiling children next to him.

"The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond," temple spokesman Lucien Greaves said in a statement. "The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."

The Satanic Temple maintains that the Oklahoma Legislature's decision to authorize a privately funded Ten Commandments monument at the Capitol opened the door for its statue. The Ten Commandments monument was placed on the north steps of the building in 2012, and the Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union has sued to have it removed.

Last time I checked, the government (federal and state) was prohibited from making legal determinations with regard to the practice of religion. That would tend to include whether something is or is not a religion. You and I are free to opine one way or the other all day long; that’s because our opinions do not carry the weight of law.

Under that logic the American Indian tribes such as the Pawnee's have a right to their religious freedoms which were well established before we got here and restart their human and animal sacrifices.

Yes, government does have rights to make legal determinations up to a point to stop religions that abuse or kill others it just can not go any farther than that.

I just now noticed it says the group is "New York-based". Funny (kind of), but I had a strange encounter a few years back with some satanists in NY's Central Park who had been standing around chanting to the 3,500-year-old Egyptian statue there known as Cleopatra's Needle. When I attempted to take a photo, one came at me.

Ahhhh, I see the pan pipe in his garment.

It also interesting that Micheal is a grown, feminine looking white man in the painting and there is a sleeping black child at his feet, with white children tending both him and the black child.

I’m surprised that the child to his left shoulder doesn’t have a loin cloth— his adult self is covered and all the children are carefully positioned to hide identifiers... except the one that looks to be a female child.

I’ve never seen that painting but it certainly says a lot. He was messed up and his childhood must have really sucked, I don’t even want to think about it. Sad.

Summer Solstice Ritual at Cleopatra's Needle

Summer Solstice Celebration In Central Park with Stephen Popiotek and Maryanne Savino

Monday, June 21, 2010

7:30 pm

The Summer Solstice is a time for celebration, joy, playfulness, creative power and fullness of life. It is also a time for purification and self-renewal, a day to see the creator in everyone you come in contact with and to recognize their divinity along with the recognition of your own God/Goddess self.

On June 21, 2010 at 7:28 am EDT, marks the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest day of the year, when the Sun is directly over the tropic of Cancer at noon. "Solstice" is a Latin word meaning-"sun stands still"

It will be held at Cleopatra's Needle, a potent vortex in the form of an obelisk that is from the Egyptian City of The Sun and is 3.5 thousand years old. As such it is an appropriate antenna/transducer for anchoring the Rays of the Sun while it is at its highest point.

Maryanne will be invoking sacred light languages and other musical forms by way of vocal tones and crystal singing bowls. She will also offer a sacred dance transmission in honor of the Divine Mother.

Stephen will be leading a channeled Guided Meditation/Activation utilizing a multitude of Archetypal systems including Kabalistic and Egyptian Mysticism, incorporate the assistance of many Light beings from the Angelic and inner planetary to the Solar and Galactic realms.

Together they will harness and anchor the energies of the summer solstice for personal and planetary healing, empowerment & transformation.

"Please join us for this magical evening as we connect with the sacredness of life!"

www.sacreddanceandsound.com

Cost: $15-$25 sliding scale

Location: Cleopatra's needle (the obelisk in Central Park) enter in at 79th street@5th ave. (North entrance) on the same block as the Metropolitan Museum. Stay to the right as you walk behind the museum. About half way around, you will see an under path-tunnel on the left, walk through and make the first right and the Obelisk will be on the right side surrounded by a grove of trees

Cleopatra’s Needle, isn’t that the one Egypt wants back because we aren’t properly protecting and caring for it? It seems the worshipers would be raising funds to care for it.

That lady is creepy. I would have told her not to worry and doesn’t she know that if they’re proper satanists— they won’t show up in a photo anyhow and I’m just doing a quality check, then I would have cackled like mad. She would have puzzled a minute and then she would have thought me nuts... maybe enough to back off. :p

I would never want that. I think they trade their soul for it. Not worth it in my opinion. I would never want to be famous or have scads of money--I would hand out that money just as fast as I could.

And, at the federal level, there’s that bit about “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. The “establishment” part not only refers to the creation of an official state religion, but to whether or not any religion has been “established”.

It is time that we put this misrepresentation of the First Amendment to rest.

  1. "Congress" means Congress (i.e. the Federal Government). The First Amendment is the only one which explicitly mentions Congress. It does not include the states.
  2. It states "shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion" not "no law establishing religion." In other words, Congress can make no law one way or the other, establishing or preventing the establishment of religion by the states.
  3. Many of the states had established religions for a number of years after the ratification of the First Amendment.
What the First Amendment actually does is take the question of the establishment of religion out of the federal jurisdiction and leaving it to the states. While you might argue that concept of the separation of church and state should also be applied at the state level, the First Amendment does not do this.

This is a overwhelmingly Christian nation (that is, the people). It is just that its laws and institutions reflect this while at the same time giving religious tolerance to just minorities. Those religious groups, however, which advocate violence or outright immorality do not deserve such tolerance. Nor should we allow any religious minorities to prevent the overwhelming Christian majority to express its beliefs in our laws and institutions. Such an act would itself be unjust and an act of intolerance.

Two of the four sides are badly weathered, thereby making it difficult to make out the hieroglyphics. As a onetime geology major years ago, I learned the reason for this is that it had been halfway submerged in mud for many years in Egypt, and when it got here, various salts contained in the mud began to react in the comparatively moist NY climate and those sides began to deteriorate. The other 2 sides look like they were carved yesterday.

This photo shows one of each side, one of the 2 badly weathered ones (the one in sunlight), and one of the 2 clear sides (one in shade).

The sunlight is early morning, from the east.

It’s beautiful and pretty amazing. Do you think we should do more to protect it? I don’t know much about it.

I marvel at the quality of work done in the past. It seems with most things as we become more modern, quality matters less and less to us.

I don’t think most modern homes will still be standing to enjoy and admire even a hundred years out without constant tending.

That was close!

“Oklahoma constitution: “ Perfect toleration of religious sentiment shall be secured...”

Ask the people who wrote it if they intended to include mohammedanism.

“The “establishment” part not only refers to the creation of an official state religion, but to whether or not any religion has been “established”.

That is utter nonsense. I don’t know where you picked that crap up, but do yourself a favor and stop repeating it.

“On top of that, there’s the bit about freedom of speech. If they let one religious group put up a display on the public square, they can’t reasonably refuse another so long as the other group’s display is appropriate.”

Road apples. It is long established that freedom of religion does not extend to satanic cults. Nor should it.

If there’s no other way to refute these bogus arguments once and for all, then I guess we need a constitutional amendment clearly excluding mohammedanism from the class of things known as “religion.”

It’s real. It was a big FR topic of discussion (that’s an understatement) in real time and for a long while after that. Should be easy to pull up on an image search with words like gore bradley debate apollo theater goat goathead etc.

There were also articles about viewers calling CNN complaining about the goathead demon in the backdrop. It was funny how it was “just” the way the stars were projecting/merging onto the backgound, but hey if it formed that goathead... I mean come on, someone or some”thing” was helping them out.
