Somebody straighten out this for medoes PTR only build parts sets? Is that why Century has come into the discussion?
I have an AR10T that I’m fond of and several AR15s in various guises that are fun just because liberals hate them so much but I really prefer fine bolt action hunting rifles. I’m drooling over one right now. That’s gonna be my firearm focus for a while I think.
Damn auto spell!
PTR, long ago, used to assemble parts sets into rifles. Since then, they bought all the HK tooling and machinery from the Portugese armory that was making them under license and are now making entire rifles in the US. They are all new, all US made.
Century is just slapping parts kits together on a US reciever and calling it a day.
Wow... How about that Summer of Recovery, man that Obama Economy is smoking right along here.. ( sarc / off )
Not sure if anyone has noticed that some time ago Henry Firearms quietly move much of their operations to Wisconsin and, WE all welcome them albeit a late “welcome”.
I have handled, fired, and cleaned a HK 91.

They are made the same, except the PTR 91 has a much better factory trigger.
I’ve had a PTR91 for about 8 years now. Well made rifle, I’m very pleased with mine. PTR builds them in the USA using original factory equipment purchased from Portugal (I think). It’s the closest you can get to a new HK91.
The only drawback is for those who collect their brass for reloading. They have a fluted chamber to aid in extraction that really screws up the brass. I just feed mine the cheap russian stuff for plinking, it works fine.
Of course, with the cost of ammo, it doesn’t get out to the range as often as when it was new.
WOW!

Personal experience: They are good. It has a fluted chamber so that might be a consideration if you reload. Hits on a steel plate can be made out to 500 yards- using an 18 inch barrel. The trigger can be worked on to get a decent “PULL”.
I would say buy one. my two cents.
