A Florida congressman who pleaded guilty to cocaine-possession charges last year is returning to Congress.
Republican Rep. Trey Radel says he's looking forward to representing his southwest Florida constituents in Washington again after taking a leave of absence and undergoing treatment in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.

Personally, I think congress should remove any drug-abusing congress critter from office, regardless of party affiliation. On the other hand, maybe they are all on drugs, maybe that is the problem.
A “Rob Ford” Republican.
Well, Rino..er Rick Scott wants him gone so he can’t be all bad.
We should be careful before we quickly throw folks over the side of U.S.S. Conservative. Some can be rehab’ed and still have skills to offer. You can see the Dems have no such qualms. Lets not be so quick to empty our bench over this sort of matter. Now, if Radel was the sort to beat his wife and children, I would then say take him away, today.
If it’s a choice between Radel and his execrable predecessor, Connie Mack IV, there is no question which one I prefer.
Why not? It’s what a Democrat would do. No more double standards.
Get rid of him asap
The Kennedys, Bill Clinton, and Eliot Spitzer have left a sorry legacy, indeed.
So your idea is that all Republicans should become Democrats.
There are only several hundred people who get to be federal represenatives in a country of 300 million.
We can have higher standards than to accept this guy. At any rate, we should expect him to prove himself clean and sober for several years before coming back. Any shorter duration is not reliable that he’s really changed.
> Republican Rep. Trey Radel
Surprised it wasn’t in the headline. Thanks nickcarraway.
Noticed party affiliation as the first word, not in the 6th paragraph.
His new nickname will be 8 ball.
Jeff Flake?
Cold weather and snow blanket DC
FloriDUH doesn’t care....
It would only be a choice between Cokehead Radel and RINO Mack if Radel insists not only in serving out his term but in running for reelection despite defrauding his constituents. The FL-19 is the most conservative and Republican district south of Gainesville (60.6% for Romney and 56.9% for McCain), and its electors deserve a conservative Representative who not only can talk the talk, but also walk the walk. Frankly, I think that the voters made a mistake in 2012 in not nominating Byron Donalds, and I hope that they remedy the situation in a special election (should Radel stop acting selfishly and actually show contrition) or, if not, in the primary for the regular November election. http://www.byrondonalds.com/
Conservative cokehead who promises everything will be okay after he returns home from rehab vs. Pampered “electable” RINO douchebag who got his @$$ handed to him in a real contested race. Puke. I agree that we need Byron Donalds to throw his hat into the ring for the next election.
