Predicting the weather -- especially a decade or more in advance -- is unbelievably challenging. What's the track record of those most worried about global warming? Decades ago, what did prominent scientists think the environment would be like in 2010?
1. Within a few years "children just aren't going to know what snow is." Snowfall will be "a very rare and exciting event."
2. "[By] 1995, the greenhouse effect would be desolating the heartlands of North America and Eurasia with horrific drought, causing crop failures and food riots [By 1996] The Platte River of Nebraska would be dry, while a continent-wide black blizzard of prairie topsoil will stop traffic on interstates, strip paint from houses and shut down computers."
4. "Using computer models, researchers concluded that global warming would raise average annual temperatures nationwide two degrees by 2010."

That would explain the reports of SNOW in Los Angeles we’ve been hearing, on and off, over the past few years. . .
0 for 8
Go back another 20 years and the same people were predicting global COOLING because of pollution.
Usually these predictions are laced with “if,” “could,” “may,” and “might.”
Only a couple of these, 4 and 6, use the magic qualifiers. The others all use “would” and “will.”
But they are still wrong.
I remember when we all had to give up our cans of hairspray and they come out with something to replace the Freon in refrigeration units because the global ice age was on the way.
THEY, at least had SOME science behind them. Because we KNEW back then, that we were in an Ice Age, currently between Continental Glaciations, and that another was due Real Soon Now (geologically speaking. . .)
It has never been proven that Freon causes any harm to anything! Junk Science at it’s finest.
Some of these phony predictions are by Paul Ehrlich, A person who has NEVER managed to predict anything correctly, yet still has quite a large following following of deluded loons
Don't forget that pulling the Freon out of the process of putting the insulation on the external fuel tank brought down the space shuttle and eventually killed the program.
In the 70’s the Earth was cooling and were were going to have an ice age within 10 years...
You posted exactly what I was going to say! I can’t think of a single thing that this “expert” has ever predicted that has come about. Yet he is idolized by the media and brain dead followers. He is defing the laws of chance which says that at least sometime you have to be correct. Maybe what he gets correct is that when he puts on his shoes every morning the right and left one are from the same pair. On the other hand I don’t know if that would be too good for a person that appears to have two left feet and a couple of extra a**holes.
Years ago I used to correspond to an ex-academic who at one time worked for me. He was a decent cobol and CICS coder, but his Phd was in something like biostatistics or ecology. On one occasion in an email I raised the question if he knew of any even marginally public figure (outside of politicians who lie as part of their jobs) who was wrong more than Paul Ehrlich. He responded that he didn’t ever want to hear from me again. Worked for me. Apparently I blasphemed, and rather than open any logical discourse he ran and hid. What a jerk.
They had me on the “global cooling” when they started talking about this in 1970. I’m against “global cooling”.
I WANT “global warming”! Especially today.
More “global warming” = more plants to feed the population.
More “global warming” and I’m happier than being cold.
Still I don’t think the specks on earth can change either.
