Mitt Romney Accepts MHP's Apology: We Hold No Ill Will Whatsoever
The Right Scoop ^ | 1/5/2014 | Caleb Howe

Mitt Romney appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace this morning to discuss several topics, including the story that first broke on The Right Scoop, the segment on Melissa Harris-Perry's show last weekend featuring a Romney family photo.

ROMNEY: Well first let me just note, Chris, that we love this little guy a great deal. He was an answer to prayer and we love that he is a part of our family. He is part of our family. That being said, I recognize that people make mistakes and the folks at MSNBC made a big mistake, and they've apologized for it. and that's all can you ask for. I am going to mover on from that. I am sure they want to move on from it. Look, I've made plenty of mistakes myself. And they've apologized for this. And you know, I think we can go on from there.

WALLACE: Let me just ask if I can press a little bit on this, sir, you tend to speak from the head. I know Mrs. Romney tends to speak from the heart. I suspect she took this somewhat more personally. The idea that political discourse would include going after a little baby.

ROMNEY: Well, you know, I think people recognize and the folks at MSNBC who have apologized recognize, that people leak me are fair targets. If you get in the political game, you can expect incoming. But children, you know, that's beyond the line and I think they understand that and feel that as well. I think it's a heart felt apology. I think for that reason, we hold no ill will whatsoever.

Like him or not, Romney is pure class and graciousness as is his wife.

Wasn't happy with him as a Presidential Candidate but never doubted that he was a kind, gracious man.

And he displayed that grace again today. I say well done Mr. Romney. He displayed a level of grace, character and integrity that the lieberals and the msm will never be capable of displaying.

Love you, Mitt. But if children are off limits, why did you parade your group out in that picture?

As others have said, it was just a family Christmas card that the DBs at MSNBC managed to get a hold of.

But there's another element here as well - Mitt Romney has run for, and lost the election to, the Presidency. He's done, and not coming back, as any sort of political force in this country. The last person who did that at that level was Nixon, right?

I have no issue with the guy lending his voice as one of dozens of political commentators. But I would also say that now that he's not running for anything, and probably will never do so again, he deserves to have a level of privacy not afforded to candidates.

Chris Wallace is a disgusting left-wing fifth columnist.

One could say that. Or one could look at the repeated classy answers that Romney gave in response to Wallace's questions as being opportunity after opportunity for Fox News to bash their competition.

Well stated. Romney's returned to private life and should be afforded the same level of privacy that you and I receive.

If one thinks about the alternative, the minute one becomes a "public figure" they're a target for life?? So I guess one having their name published in a newspaper or appearing on TV to advocate an issue means they give up their right to privacy for life?

No wonder so few good people actually run for political office these days.

Like the little duck on the water. Calm above the water and kicking his little legs furiously under the water. Romney is seething inside is my guess. And, Wallace is being Wallace. An arrogant pr*ck!

Wrong. That would be engaging someone as low and petty as Melissa whats-her-face. Can you imagine Reagan doing something like that? Of course not. Why even give her status?

IMHO, that was Sarah Palin’s mistake when she got into pissing matches with her daughter’s baby daddy. Why would someone of her level get into a public shouting match with some boob like that?

I expect to read rude comments like that in the media but I come to FR to avoid them.

The picture was from their Christmas card. Family is important in their culture. If they hadn't included a picture would you feel they were hiding the child?

BTW - half the Christmas cards I got this year were photographs that included the kids, the families and even the family pets.

I don’t understand why so many of you are STILL on the “ i hate romney” bandwagon.

I've come to expect the "I hate Romney" posts here on FR. It's accepted here for some reason.

I try to avoid Romney threads because of it but figured this one would be about the child and not bring out the mormon bashing. Other sites like the conservative treehouse don't have such comments. That's where I go when these types of comments start.

Another turn the other cheek moment. It gets tiring. He shouldhave just ignored them, had no comment.

There are issues in the balance which really don't mean much to Romney one way or the other, but, they are of vital concern to conservative voters. Problem is Romney seems unable to understand why the issues are important, he just doesn't care.

We need someone less a slave to the urban mindset to defend individual liberty, the current crop of establishment types just isn't going to do it. They talk a good fight, but their hearts aren't in it and it shows.

You've never heard any Mormon bashing from me, Romney is on my list for other reasons, and I've made them clear.

In my mind the Protestant vs Catholic vs LDS ruckus has no place here, this is a conservative forum and the religious pissing contests are nothing but counterproductive.

Because, madam, he willingly aided the current occupant of the White House to a second term by serving as a ringer and stopping the Tea Party from nominating a viable candidate. Why would ANY Conservative be respecting of a known Socialist fraud who has aided the Democrat agenda for his entire political career ? How can you have been on FR for over three years during that 2011-12 election cycle and not be aware of that ?

Pro-abortion Romney has spent years trying to create a national myth that Ronald Reagan was “adamantly pro-choice”, he has never apologized.
