The workers voted 51 percent to 49 percent in favor, responding to pressures from top union officials and Washington State lawmakers, who warned that Boeing might place 777X production elsewhere, potentially costing Washington more than 10,000 jobs.

2%= 1% votes either sided. Just like 2012 and probably right at the end.
I’m not convinced it was that close, the Union did the counting, as long as they didn’t claim it failed when it really passed, the numbers are up to them.
They could have pulled 51-49 percent right out of their nose-hairs to make it sound as if it was way closer, after all, like most political types they need to justify their existence somehow!
Boeing’s union workers win 2014 Darwin Award, 100%-0%.
I was in the Machinists and Aerospace workers for a year. My brother for 15. It was enlightening, to say the least. The union mindset is truly something to behold. The way the National union whips up the hate and brings out the violent worst in people.
Went on strike for 5 months, finally accepted the same offer they turned down at the beginning.
The Company still closed the doors 2 months later, just like they said they would if the union went through with a strike.
That’s exactly right and I have no interest in flying on a plane built with 49% dumbass, snivelling, whining labor. Seems to me like management is highly motivated to weed out the 49 percenters or they will have a ferocious problem with quality control. And remember these “machinists” ( a misuse of the word) are a relatively small portion of the actual whole force used to built the planes but are in position to do damage.
you are too kind.
Goose? meet Golden Egg.
Watch the recess appointed obamite NLRB get involved. organized labor bought and paid for this administration, they aim to get their money’s worth.
Bet ya a buck that it was those family members that told them to pass it and the workers listened to them..NOT the union thugs.
“...hed be out of the door in a heartbeat!”
I doubt it - that would be a Hate Crime against a union member! I was at a government site and my client said it is just terrible. You can’t yell or get mad at the guys or they’ll get the union on you. He was at one meeting and the boss was asking nicely, pleading, with the guys. “So guys, if you can give me four good solid hours of work each day we can get this project back on track. Please.” (They work 10-hour days!)
Many machinists bridled at approving a contract extension that contained a pension freeze and other concessions at a time Boeing had record profits and a record order backlog.
Boeing said its strong earnings resulted from pricing on planes ordered years ago. It warned that its airplanes are now being sold at significant discounts.
A Boeing official wrote to workers saying that, despite the concessions, they would still receive market-leading wages and benefits. Many have base pay of $70,000 a year, with some earning $100,000 with overtime.
No, I am not Boeing management....
Glad to know there are others out there who are disgusted with labor unions. Everytime I turn around they have their hands out for more.
I was hoping they’d reject the contract offer and Boeing would relocate to a red state.
Would have loved to have my next conversation with a former union thug to involve ordering fries and a drink.
I loathe unions in general, but my company is making me wish to be in one sadly enough.
I do work with union workers (another company) every day, and they’re all pretty cool to work with. So not all unions or union workers are bad, it’s just ones like the UAW, IBEW, Teamsters, etc that make the others look bad.
It’s actually believable. Boeing’s move to Chicago was a wake up call for a lot of people.
