FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ How Big Is One? ~ 05 January 2014
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

HOW BIG IS ONE?

As a man walked a desolate beach one cold, gray morning he began to see another figure, far in the distance. Slowly the two approached each other, and he could make out a local native who kept leaning down, picking something up and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he hurled things into the ocean.

As the distance between them continued to narrow, the man could see that the native was picking up starfish that had been washed upon the beach and, one at a time, was throwing them back into the water.

Puzzled, the man approached the native and asked what he was doing. "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide right now and all of these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back into the sea, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen."

"But there must be thousands of starfish on this beach," the man replied. "You can't possibly get to all of them. There are just too many. And this same thing is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?"

The local native smiled, bent down and picked up another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea he replied, "Made a difference to that one!"

Each of us is but one person: limited, burdened with our own cares and responsibilities. We may feel there is so much to be done, and we have so little to give. We're usually short of everything, especially time and money. When we leave this shore, there will still be millions of starfish stranded on the beach. Maybe we can't change the whole world, but there isn't one of us who can't help change one person's whole world. One at a time. We can make a difference.

One at a time. We can make a difference.

It’s so weird...without me, the band just doesn’t go on at all.

and I’m just an old lady bass player.

Tomorrow will be the annual Blessing of the Bikes which involves all of Broward. We won’t be having a service because everybody will be THERE instead (including me!)

It rained, so there were no yard sales this morning, but my sister, her husband and daughter came to visit me from a vacation condo in Ft Lauderdale.

All flights to Boston have been cancelled due to weather, so i may end up with house guests. LOL

ANYTHING to get you from driver’s door to walker when any hint of ice is around. And using with said walker can only be a good thing, an added sense of safety.

I use them every day getting from my car to the front door of the office, walking across the plowed (down to the ice) parking lot. Better safe than sorry.

Amazing Grace
(Click)

By John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

An exciting day nonetheless!!

He works in mysterious ways; He led you to the Biker Ministry. Seems you are a piece of the glue.

Be careful getting to the Blessing of the Bikes, especially if there is more rain.

Happy visiting!! Does Lynn-Dah share her Mom?

Adoption

January 5, 2014

Read: Ephesians 1:3-12

He chose us in Him . . . having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself. —Ephesians 1:4-5
Bible in a Year:
Genesis 13-15; Matthew 5:1-26

My wife, Marlene, and I have been married for over 35 years. When we were first dating, we had a conversation I have never forgotten. She told me that at 6 months old she had been adopted. When I asked her if she ever wondered about who her real parents were, she responded, “My mom and dad could have selected any of a number of other babies that day, but they chose me. They adopted me. They are my real parents.”

That strong sense of identification and gratitude she has for her adoptive parents should also mark our relationship with God. As followers of Christ, we have been born from above through faith in Him and have been adopted into the family of God. Paul wrote, “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will” (Eph. 1:4-5).

Notice the nature of this transaction. We have been chosen by God and adopted as His sons and daughters. Through adoption, we have a radically new relationship with God. He is our beloved Father!

May this relationship stir our hearts to worship Him—our Father—with gratitude.

Loving Father, thank You for making me
Your child and giving me a place in
Your family. With a grateful heart, I
thank You for making me Yours.
God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. —Augustine
