Sarah Silverman celebrated Christmas in her usual mode: mocking Christians, and religion in general. On Twitter, she wrote “Happy Birthday, Jesus! I'm sorry [you] were murdered by people afraid of new ideas!”
Her last HBO special in 2002 was even mockingly titled “Jesus Is Magic.” Her new special was called “We Are Miracles.” Once again in the new show, she made fun of the death of Jesus, as a Jew: “You’re welcome. If we hadn’t killed him, he wouldn’t even be famous.”

Sarah Silverman has been treated for mental problems. I wish she would get further help, as clearly she needs it.
And not to hate on those with mental issues. I think that Sarah Silverman is an example of how we celebrate liberalism and outrageous behavior nowadays. If she were conservative shooting off her mouth about such subjects, she would have gotten the Paula Deen treatment and taken off TV, and never booked for her stand up acts anywhere. But because she is liberal and mocks people and religions which liberals approve of mocking, she is feted by the liberals who run the entertainment business.
Silverman is a GERMAN name. She must think that's okay or else she would have changed it.

I went to Germany and saw the Jewish buildings and stuff. I wondered at the time, WHY any Jew, from ANYWHERE, would go to Germany or have ANYTHING to do with Germany or anything German. Go figure.

As for changing her name, I assume that if it meant anything to her she would have. LOTS of people change their names. The names "Fuch" would be one. Jerk or not, there are SOME names that just won't do...especially for children. They can always GO BACK to the original name.
I had a Chinese student once whose name was BICH. There were several students around the table when the name came up. I said "Bisch" as it rhymes with "feesh." She said, "No, bitch."
I said, "okay, bitch it is."
After almost all the students had left I made the comment that I always thought that names of people should be pronounced the way they wanted, not with what the current culture dictated...but in THIS case, I would make an exception.

I've been to Germany a lot and, to tell you the truth, they didn't seem fixated on Israel at all. They didn't seem to care about Israel or Jews at all. They have their own problems. They were FAR more focused on the MYRIAD of Turks immigrating to Germany.
You know what many of their complaints were about the Turks?
1. They didn't want to work. Mind you, compared to the German work ethic, NO ONE wants to work.
2. They wouldn't learn German.
3. One guy is allowed in and before you know it, the ENTIRE 50-member family is there.
4. The FIRST thing the Turks do is apply for German welfare.

I was visiting a Swedish friend some years ago. We were by a placid, beautiful lake. One the lake there was this rowboat-full of people. One of them threw an empty soda can right into the lake. My friend was SO angry but said nothing. But, ME, being the big mouth American yelled at them: PICK UP THE CAN!!! WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU??!!
They were Turks. They picked up the can. We watched for a while. They probably dumped that can after we left watching them.
The Turks simply don't love the land, this earth, the way the Swedes do. That simple. Turks are pigs; Swedes are not...though there are exceptions, I know...so FReepers, DON'T start in on me about YOU knowing dirty Swedes and clean Turks. THANKEW!
WWII started over 70 years ago...that is at least two lifetimes. People DO get over things. Some don't.
My own mother always mistrusted the Japanese...being on the West Coast. There are still the old bunkers on the coast for guns pointing west towards an "imminent" attack from Japan.
