What would EMP do to those nice solar panels?
“What would EMP do to those nice solar panels?”
Up in smoke, fried crispy critters.
Perhaps nothing to the panels, but the inverter electronics and controls wouldn’t fare too well.
Fry them, and anything else using solid state devices ("chips") to a crisp. This would include all methods of power transmission and voice and other types of communication and virtually all methods of transportation.
Even a lite EMP could devastate the country for six months at least. Imagine having no electric power for anthing. Think about what you'd lose for a few minutes and you'll realize the amount of havoc that would be wreaked.
Farnsworth in number seven above recommended the book "One Second After. Excellent!! Here's a link.
One good effect: an EMP would put the NSA out of business for a long time.
After a snow storm not only do you have to shovel the driveway but then you have to brush the snow off those things........no thanks
“What would EMP do to those nice solar panels?”
Nothing. An EMP goes directly into a power line and anything connected to that line fries. Whatever isn’t plugged in isn’t damaged. He isn’t connected to the grid so his panels are fine.
“What would EMP do to those nice solar panels?”
Nothing. EMP isn’t this mystical creature that destroys all things electric and electronic, I don’t care how many people repeat that lie. EMP is a fairly weak pulse that is extremely brief, hence it requires very long wires to build up enough charge to do significant damage.
Re EMP/Solar panels:
Interesting discussion. I’ve wondered about this myself.
