For the first time in the United States, a citizen who has legally registered a gun will have to submit to a renewal process. The consequences of not knowing about this new law or missing the specific 60-day window are dire.
Starting on Jan. 2, every single D.C. resident who has registered a firearm since 1976 must go to police headquarters to pay a $48 fee and be photographed and fingerprinted.
The Metropolitan Police Department estimates there are at least 30,000 registered gun owners.
If the registrant does not go to the police station within three months after a set time frame, the registration is revoked...

Bing. Go.
Which side will you be on when the shooting begins?
I don't see Texas doing this, but if they did, I wouldn't register my weapons and if arrested and put in jail, I get free food and free medical care and hours to watch TV and plenty of time to read and maybe have my own computer in the cell with me and I don't have to fill out paperwork for any agency such as the IRS every year.
Obviously not intended for lawbreakers (stating the obvious).
Great post, I couldn’t agree more!!
Move, or die fighting.
What will YOU do, are you not a FReeper?
Call your lawyer! This is not legal....not in America; maybe Nigeria or parts of Russia, Cuba, but not here...Become Constitution savvy...know your rights. The Communists have come to take you and your rights away ta da...think I am kidding?
Obviously this does not intend to make violent criminals register their guns. This is aimed exclusively at honest, law-abiding non-violent citizens and is designed to declare them criminals and fine or sentence them.
Explain the “Class III exemption” and tell D.C. folks how your state got rid of the oppressing gun control nits.
registration = confiscation
“Atlas Shrugged” Now non-fiction....

***That citizen is then in possession of an unregistered firearm, which is a felony***
If they are now felons, they are not required to register their firearms.
Haynes vs US. 1968.

“The original Haynes decision continues to block state prosecutions of criminals who fail to register guns as required by various state law gun registration schemes”.
And that is why obamacare requires docs to ask about firearm ownership AND keep digital records in a federal database.
Just saying’....it’s too late to avoid registering your Class III weapons.
Ya, we booted 3 gun grabbers in 2013 after they pushed through anti-2a legislation.
Where does O’care “require” docs to ask about guns?

And the answer should be "Try breaking into my house some night and you'll find out, doc."
When you find out, go to the top of the chain of command. Make sure all of your affairs are in order...
Find them, kill them, and make sure you leave a message. Like the "Columbia Neck Tie." Also, you will have to terminate their entire family and friends. I'm sorry, but it is coming to this. Do not be faint of heart.
This will give you time to adjust the order of battle. You will know then that it is time to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies.
Be advised, the LEO, U.S. government, WILL KILL YOU. Orders, don't you know. Make no mistake about it.

“If this kind of in your face submission requirement continues, people will start to root for the gang members in any shoot out with collection officials.”
I hate to say this, because there is a limit to how conspiratorial you can be without people thinking you are a crackpot, but I dont think the government is going to go after the homeboys guns.
I mean, we know their intention is to disarm law abiding patriots, is there any question on that. they know who and where the gangs are and basically will leave them alone.
they want real americans scared and unarmed.
