Sergio Garcia - Illegal Immigrant Admitted To California Bar
Political Realities ^ | 01/03/14 | LD Jackson

I sometimes can not believe the direction America is headed. We used to be a nation of people governed by law and order. There used to be consequences for breaking the law in America. I often wonder if that is still the case and nothing could prove this more than the wave of illegal immigrants taking over our country. Case in point is Sergio Garcia, an illegal immigrant just admitted to the California Bar. Because of a series of court cases and action by the California State Legislature, he can now practice law in California.

Sergio Garcia was brought to America illegally by his parents when he was an infant. They took him back to Mexico when he was 9 years old. When he was 17, Garcia moved back to California, again illegally. His father, who had since obtained lawful permanent residence status, filed an immigration visa petition for him in 1994. Here is what that means.

Aljazeer America - Under federal immigration law, the visa petition provides Garcia with a basis for adjustment of his immigration status to that of a lawful permanent resident when a legal immigration opening becomes available. But Garcia has been waiting for more than 19 years, and it could be years still until one becomes available because of the backlog of people of Mexican origin waiting for lawful entry to the U.S.
This is only part of the back story of Sergio Garcia. Even though he passed the bar exam five years ago, he was not permitted to practice law. A law passed by Congress in 1996 prohibits illegal immigrants from obtaining professional licenses. This required a redefining of the federal law and a new California law to be enacted. All for the benefit of allowing an illegal immigrant to practice law in California.
A federal law passed by Congress in 1996 forbids undocumented immigrants from receiving professional licenses. But Garcia's lawyers argued that law licenses, which are granted by courts and not government agencies, were meant to be exempt from the federal law.

After an extensive investigation into Garcia's background, the California's Committee of Bar Examiners decided he had the "good moral character" to be admitted.

And when the new bill allowing undocumented immigrants to be admitted to the state bar became law on Wednesday, Garcia was officially admitted.

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a series of immigrant-rights bills last October, including a measure that prohibits law enforcement officials from detaining immigrants based on federal government instructions except in cases of serious crimes or convictions. Another law makes it illegal for employers to retaliate against workers on the basis of their citizenship.

Sergio GarciaIn no way am I disparaging Sergio Garcia, his moral character, or his work ethic. I have no doubt he is an upstanding young man and a good person. However, the fact remains that he is still an illegal immigrant, ie. a person who is living in America illegally. I am relatively sure the Obama administration would classify him as one of the "dreamers", but take a closer look at his story. Yes, he was brought to America by his parents when he was an infant. He had not choice in that move. They went back to Mexico when he was 9. Some eight years later, he moved back to California, of his own volition. It was his choice to come back and he did so illegally. No matter how smart and committed he is, Sergio Garcia is still an illegal immigrant.

Please note, I call him an illegal immigrant. That's not something you will see in the old media. Instead, he is called an undocumented immigrant. As if he is only an immigrant who wasn't counted when he entered America. I refuse to refer to him, or any other illegal immigrant, by anything less than what they really are. They are immigrants living in America illegally. It really is that simple.

My concern about this story goes much deeper than illegal immigration. I am worried about the precedent it sets to allow an illegal immigrant to practice law in America. There are two more cases pending that stand the chance to be influenced by the case of Sergio Garcia. Jose Godinez-Samperio, in Florida, and Cesar Vargas, in New York, are both awaiting the outcome of their cases before each state's Supreme Court. They are asking to be allowed to practice law.

Where does this end? Nevada is now allowing illegal immigrants to obtain a driver authorization card and they want to make sure the applicants for these cards know their information will not be shared with federal immigration authorities. In October 2010, I wrote about a plan that would allow illegal immigrants to vote in some elections. It seems to get worse with the passing of each year. We already know how our federal government is working with the Mexican government to make sure the Mexicans who are crossing into America illegally know how easily they can receive food stamps. Rights and privileges that used to be reserved for American citizens are now being given away to everyone. Indeed, it seems illegal immigrants are given preferential treatment, rather than focus on our own citizens. Our laws are being ignored and redefined by a group of people who are bent on giving our country away to the millions of people who are living in America illegally.

I have no doubt that the liberal left will call this real and meaningful progress. There may be some in the Republican Party who tout this decision as a way to portray our party as more inclusive, accepting, etc. I have a much simpler term for it. Something that is much closer to the truth. It is breaking the law and it is illegal. Nothing more and nothing less.

The problem I have with Garcia is that he has no right being in this country whatsoever. Secondly, we don’t need him for anything at all, let alone to be another lawyer.

All anyone can expect from this illegal is more illegals, and more lawsuits that have that good ole’ illegal taste to them.

If he really wanted to change things, he would be in Mexico City using that country’s own laws to bring about change. Not here.

Blame the Republicans for this

If Rubio, McCain, Ryan, the Bushes, Rove, Graham, etc., were fighting illegal immigration instead of pushing amnesty, none of this would be happening.

How on God’s green earth can a continual lawbreaker enter the court to ‘practice’ law? This is a slap in the face to the American judicial system.

Laws mean nothing, unless you are a bitter clinger being served a no knock warrant. Social Justice rules, gringo. Get used to it.

Elections have consequences. This is the new age, the time of the low information voter - of tv propaganda and of rigged electronic elections. You will die of a heart attack if you think too hard.

Lots of history happens when you aren't looking for it. Like radioactive nightmares from nuke plant meltdowns.

Anyone awake can see events unfolding that promise disaster. Even Janet Napolitano left a warning for her successor that the electric grid would crash for sure in the near future and 130 million Americans could go without power for years. In Dec 2013, over 14 million doses of potassium Iodide were ordered by some dept in the fed govt. Two years ago several warehouses of 30 year storeable food was purchased and procured by Homeland Security. A private group has produced a video 'Money for Nothing' which amounts to a warning from the federal reserve board of governors past and present to get ready for a financial meltdown. The federal govt is betting on the collapse of our world as we know it and they plan to outlive the poor peons who pay the bills.

You are right, in oh so many ways.
I would go so far as to propose a new flag. Maybe along the lines of the Canadian Maple leaf. White with a bunch of bananas in the middle. Maybe with a green border, to honor our commitment to saving the planet.

I get the impression that this Garcia is another "Manchurian candidate" in that he will be a figurehead for all the alien groups (i.e. La Raza).

that’s very interesting (and depressing) about Homeland Security buying warehouses full of food. Do you have a source?

Do the rules for admission to the bar include a citizenship or legal residency requirement? If so, they’ve been violated. If not, they need to be changed but have not been violated.
