Boehner Is Said to Back Change on Immigration
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR and ASHLEY PARKER Published: January 1, 2014
WASHINGTON Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio has signaled he may embrace a series of limited changes to the nations immigration laws in the coming months, giving advocates for change new hope that 2014 might be the year that a bitterly divided Congress reaches a political compromise to overhaul the sprawling system.
Mr. Boehner has in recent weeks hired Rebecca Tallent, a longtime immigration adviser to Senator John McCain, the Arizona Republican who has long backed broad immigration changes. Advocates for an overhaul say the hiring, as well as angry comments by Mr. Boehner critical of Tea Party opposition to the recent budget deal in Congress, indicates that he is serious about revamping the immigration system despite deep reservations from conservative Republicans.
Aides to Mr. Boehner said this week that he was committed to what he calls step by step moves to revise immigration laws, which they have declined to specify.
But other House Republicans, who see an immigration overhaul as essential to wooing the Hispanic voters crucial to the partys fortunes in the 2016 presidential election, said they could move on separate bills that would fast-track legalization for agricultural laborers, increase the number of visas for high-tech workers and provide an opportunity for young immigrants who came to the country illegally as children to become American citizens.

It's your contention the dems and media that are the source of divisive comments that seek division among Republicans?
Then let us read the press releases from Boner's office indicating he changed his mind about his previous attacks of the Tea Party, that he now wishes to resolve amicably any differences with Tea Party and its representatives and that he now affirms that no immigration reform bill will be brought for a vote in the House.
Simple enough, if Boner is not the one stoking divisions within Republican ranks.
Oh, and why doesn't Boner call for an end to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other big business representatives' open fight and backing of funding of election battles against Conservatives? Because he supports those battles, you say? I thought so.
Sorry, bub, Boner is a leader in the fight to divide Republicans and give them dems all the success they need to accomplish "immigration reform" (sic, ptui!).

Apparently they need to create more strawmen to cover the debt.
He'll live like a king wherever he wants. Ask Bill Clinton. Ask Bart Stupak. Ask Max Baucus. Ask Dodd and Frank.
That's why they vote the way they do.
As long as it is not near me where the cry baby drunk moves, I will be happy.
Time for a strong rope!
If you like Obamacare you'll just love our new plan for immigration!
Vote out the RINOs in 2014!
You can’t rape the willing.
He probably already has an office reserved next to Puff Daschle
Was anyone expecting different from The Tanning Booth Sob Queen?
People in OH will be thrilled beyond imagination at all Boehner can concoct.
People in TX are too committed to Cornball and George P. to think of voting out a GOP-e apparatchik.
GWB could rent real estate to Roberts and Boehner, and they could all live happily ever after.
Yes, OH and no northern state for that matter has a runoff. People in OH would vote in Boehner whether one opponent or five, I would imagine. Really they are too uninformed to do anything else.
Reagan was easily fooled so many times too. He was “told” by the GOP-E that if he signed King Day into law, blacks would flock to the GOP. I guess he really believed that.
Republicans are NOT “caving in.” Republicans are only following the script provided for them by the Democrat Party of which Republicans are the Designated Opposition Division.
I support immigration reform in 2014 - it is a must - and this what I support:
#1 is seal both north and south borders from illegal entry.
#2 remove all Obama restrictions on the Border Patrol and allow them to do their jobs.
#3. All Immigration judges are to order immediate deportation of all illegal aliens charged with crimes - all crimes.
#4. Pass legislation forbidding illegal aliens from accessing any and all welfare benefits derived from federal funds. (ditto - education)
#5. strictly enforce the law prohibiting employers from hiring illegal aliens.
#6. Pass stringent laws denying citizenship to children born of two non-citizens (legal or illegal) The Constitution does so state this but has been misinterpreted over the years per some (many?)constitutional scholars.
With the above in place self-deportation will take place. This is real immigration reform
This I support and no more!
