Weekday programming at WABC will include the return of Curtis Sliwas and Ron Kubys show, Curtis and Kuby, from noon to 3 p.m., after an absence of more than six years, and, starting Monday, a one-hour program at 5 p.m. with Pat Kiernan, the NY1 television anchor.
Geraldo Rivera, who joined WABC in early 2012, will turn his focus to New York news in a two-hour live show at 10 a.m., as Cumulus announced in November. Michael Savages syndicated program, which has been heard in the evenings, will now run from 3 to 5 p.m. Imus in the Morning, with Don Imus, will continue from 6 to 10 a.m.

>>Curtis Sliwa and Ron Kuby, who hosted mornings on WABC from 2000 until 2007 will return to the station to host the 12pm to 3pm slot going up against Limbaugh on WOR according to the New York Times. Sliwa had been hosting two programs daily on Salems 970 The Answer WNYM; mornings solo and afternoons with former New York Governor David Patterson. The morning show was set to begin a one hour simulcast on My 9 WWOR-TV on Monday, January 6. No word on the status of any of those programs yet.
In LA
New site for KEIB formerly KTLK, new home of Rush on 1150 AM.

Rush will be simulcast for a week or so on KFI 640 and I think they’ll air messages telling people to go to 1150
New Rush home in Oak/SF is KNEW 960
I’m with you on Joan Hamburg, I was thinking of John Gambling today. His dad was my favorite person on snow days when they read the list of school closings.
The one I really miss on WOR from childhood is Jean Shepard, but that’s for another thread.
I’m going to miss Rush on WABC. I listened to him before he was syndicated when he use to talk about Mayor Dinkins and played the theme song from Car 54. It’s like the end of an era
I’ve loved WABC and WOR my whole life! But my heart was always with WABC when it was a Top 40 format. I didn’t listen to Jean Shepard - stupidly - although a college friend of mine eventually became an engineer for him. I did listen to the great Bob and Ray, though.
I loved the snow reports. We would wait by the radio and then jump around when our school’s name came up! I feel that John Gambling, Jr. was pushed out of WOR. He had an excellent local show - low-key but very, very interesting.
I liked Lynn also. We shared the same birthday but she was much older than I was. Every Saturday morning my cat and I would listen to her. I sent her a birthday card fan letter and told her about listening with my cat. She sent me back an autographed picture of her at some radio station that had an office cat.
I still have that picture.
Would you remember if it was Bob Grant who got Curtis (and Lisa) their start in radio? I remember it was a radio icon. I can’t recall who.
As for Jean Shepard, I hope he will be remembered for more than just the writer of “A Christmas Story”. All his stories were magical, IMHO.
We crossed the Caicos Deep by tuning into the missionary radio station in Cap Haitien - and by the time we hit north Florida coming back we could pick up WSB and just keep the needle in the middle.
“For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.” 1 Samuel 15:23
I just added WOR AM to my favorites and will no longer have a need for WABC.
I really miss G. Gordon Liddy and Barry Farber
Savage replaced Hannity on DFW WBAP yesterday. I will change channels. Cannot stand to listen to Savage.
A lot of great stuff about Jean Shepherd is on the site http://www.sheplives.com (and note it’s spelled Shepherd;
while “Jean Shepard” is a female country singer :) )
About 60 miles west of Toronto, I pick up WABC at night.
Ah, yes, you are right. I didn’t know there was a female Jean Shepard who sang! Great piece of trivia.
Btw just saw on facebook that apparently
legendary NY talk host Bob Grant has died. Not
totally sure yet
I guess Howie is back next week? (Monday, January 6th)
I now really have no reason to listen to KSFO anymore. Between SiriusXM and KNEW, all of my favorites are covered.
Just heard Bob Grant passed away on New Year's Eve.
RIP
