Clinton pushes for jobless aid extension
The Hill ^ | January 1, 2014 | Mario Trujillo

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday urged Congress to quickly pass an extension of federal jobless aid.

The former New York senator took to Twitter to reflect on her part in helping to extend a similar program a decade ago.

[snip] Clinton has sporadically weighed in on the news of the day since leaving the State Department. During the government shutdown in October, she criticized lawmakers who govern by ideology for pushing the government from crisis to crisis. ,p .

Jobless benefits for nearly 1.3 million people expired Saturday after Congress left the extensions of long-term unemployment aid out of a budget agreement reached earlier this month.

Clinton lining her vast pockets with Big Government Nannyisms....remember Ms. Clinton believes in the Third Way as well as being a student of Marxist Saul Alinsky....Hillary would probably put the No. 1 Communist John Podesta as her Attorney General. Ms. Clinton as POTUS is more a nightmare than the Socialist/Marxist in the White House now.

Mr. Podesta joins de facto POTUS Jarrett in advising Barry..........guard your freedoms my friends as the despotic dictates from the White House will be heavy indeed.

Granted, Hillary of course has ulterior, untrustworthy motives for this but I do hope there are some sort of jobs available for the 1.3 million who are going to lose benefits and other unemployed who will also lose benefits. Hopefully there are jobs out there and they were just passing them up in favor of more dream type jobs. If there are literally no jobs for them, it could be a life or death situation for them.

BTW, what do posters here generally feel about unemployment benefits? Should it be nonexistent? 6 months tops? A year but only with enough benefits to stay alive, with the condition that they are withdrawn if it is discovered they are not using these benefits for basic room and board purposes only, i.e. for beer, cigarettes, new phones, etc?

Will Huma’s beard, Carlos Danger, be eligible for this extension?

It shouldn't exist. If people want to eat and have a roof over their heads, they'll get a job somewhere.

Do you think there are always going to be jobs available for people provided they are not selective about their job and just want to ensure they have a source of income at all?

she criticized lawmakers who govern by ideology

Wait, wouldn’t that be ALL of them?
Ok, for Hillary and some it’s pure greed
but that comes down to an ideology of greed.

I just hope I live long enough to see her eaten
by her own political spawn.

I have very little problem with a safety net. Unemployment benefits should be very short term and with better monitoring of the recipients. It is not uncommon for people to receive benefits while ‘working under the table’ for cash.

Why, yes.

In a true free market with minimal government oversight, there would be no need for unemployment benefits. If you need help after being fired or laid off, there would be private and religious charities to help.

That's the way it used to be, and that's the way it should be.

Get the federal government completely out of welfare, labor laws and regulations, and the safety net.

The magic of the free market will create jobs, would incentivize people to get up off their @sses and work.

I work 2 jobs, my regular full-time job and a part-time weekend-only job.

If I can do it, then anyone can.

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday urged Congress to quickly pass an extension of federal jobless aid.

None of her business. No one elected her to do anything.

(Hillary is sooo old school!)

The long-term unemployed need real jobs, not more welfare and dependency.

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention.

In providing long term unemployment benefits and food, housing, medical security , we are taking away that necessity.

We have covered the majority of "Maslow's hierarchy of needs". By making it acceptable to live off of the government there is nothing a person could want other than self esteem and self actualization, and most people can fabricate that out of self deception.

BTW, what do posters here generally feel about unemployment benefits?

Years ago, people used to have to bring a list of places they looked for work... each week... to the unemployment office. (Those lists were checked and verified, too.) If they weren't actively looking for work, they lost their benefits - as it should be.

6 months was also the limit. If they couldn't find something - anything - with a half a year, they weren't looking hard enough.

Unemployment is suppose to be a safety net. It's become another hammock like every other social program. Stop paying them with other peoples paychecks, and they'll find a job - any job - if they want to eat.
