Who's picking up the tab?

I'd imagine, especially with tourists on board that it's insured. The cruisers on the vacation of a lifetime probably signed waivers so they'd have a tough time blaming anyone.

This still doesn't sound like a done deal. That's a lot of helicopter trips, there are still going to be a lot of people stranded on the boat, and then there's the evacuation of the stuck Chinese vessel.

This rescue can not be good for the environment. The environmental best alternative might have been to leave the fools on the ship until the ice thaws. Or let them walk to the edge of the ice. (sarcasm, of course)

The purpose of the expedition was to retrace Mawson's expeditions. On one of those he missed the pickup and had to winter over.

That'd be fitting for the CAGW Trip Leader "Professor" Turney.

"This rescue can not be good for the environment."

I agree. We're all going to die (sooner) because of this exhibition.

All these past years useful products have been banned to help heal the environment. In ten days these "scientists" have set us back with all of their carbon useage. Now we're back to square one. If these scientist are greenies then why are they not using green products to save themselves? Hypocrites. Mother Nature should take care of them, not humans.

I lit an incandescent light bulb for the environment.

Yep and during all this time, something could go horribly wrong.
