Working-age Military Retirees might be charge a monthly fee for Tricare in future Budget Options
Congressional Budget Office ^ | Nov 13, 2013

The second alternative would make working-age military retirees and their families ineligible for TRICARE Prime, which is the most costly of the three programs for DoD. Those people could instead enroll in TRICARE Standard or Extra during the annual open-enrollment period or when a life event occurred (for example, a change in marital status). Enrollees in Standard or Extra would pay a monthly premium that would be set at 28 percent of the average cost of providing benefits for that group.

I remember Obama making the statement working-age military retirees should use their company's heath care during his first term. The pension cost of living cut was the first move to see if they can do this. It is a class warfare of those who have verses those who do not. This 28 Percent is that average cost of Obama Care or what heath care cost before Obama Care?

DUH working age Military are already on Tricare Prime. They got out after 20 yrs, went to college and got their degrees for the field they would work in. Or just went to work in factories. This is a RATIONED Entitlement.

TFL Tricare Life is for retirees over 65, secondary to Medicare, admined out of the same offices more or less. Co-pays have gone up 2 years in a row, 1 COLA raise in 5 years, pitiful 1.7% half of which went to Medicare. This is a RATIONED ENTITLEMENT!

For being under paid, over deployed and risking their lives daily in war zones.

Stabbing veterans in the back again.

Really, Congress should cut there own benefits first before they touch those of veterans who served our country for 20 years.

I read through this and ALL the “savings” achieved by ALL the options, over an 8 year period, is less than $20 Billion..... all on the backs of retired military families who it is “assumed” manage to find employment with employer-provided healthcare .. or will be forced onto MEDICAID

However no one in Congress seems interested in “savings” by curtailing social security FRAUD and ABUSE ... ie, payment of $108 BILLION in SS benefits to “dead” people in 2012 alone!

This is the standard hatred of the military by Democrats being put on display...only now we have to assume the GOP-E will join them.

SCREW the military! MORE MONEY for illegal immigrants....um, undocumented democrat voters! And buttwipes like both of my GP senators from Arizona, supposedly conservative Republicans, will go along.

This is, once again, such Bravo Sierra...
Many “working military retirees” get the job because the company doesn’t have to provide healthcare insurance because of Tricare coverage...
Any congresscritter who votes for this (Ryan et al...I’m talking abt YOU!) will answer for that vote...damn them all.

All true, and for those who don’t know, working age military retirees have been paying for Tricare ever since they were forced into it back in the early 90s.

Tricare Prime is used by retired veterans who live within a certain radius of a military medical facility. Anyone who lives outside of the radius usually uses Tricare standard.

Veterans on Prime didn’t have to pay medical expenses since they primarily used military health providers. They can see off station health providers, but they must pay a co-pay for service.

Last year congress reduced the radius of coverage for Prime. Thousands of veterans lost coverage with their current off station health providers. They had to apply for Tricare Standard and find new providers that accepted Standard.

I would expect monthly premiums to be the next step.

Interesting that they use the phrase “working-age military retirees”. I think we have a lot of working age social security disability recipients. We have a lot of working age foodstamp recipients. We have a lot of working age welfare recipients. We have a lot of working age unemployment recipients. And who says 62 is magically over the working age? I know lots of spry 90 year old Democrats that could weed turnips. And how about all that money going to education? Aren’t college students “working age”? They should be out weeding in the turnip patch, too. This use of “working age military retirees” is propaganda. Filthy , stinking propaganda from the paid Democrat liars.

The government has broken their word so many times since I first joined in 1967 that I am no longer surprised. You give us your life for 30 years, lay it on the line whenever the Country calls and we will … Oh, but not that, we can’t afford that, but we will … Oh, that is too much, we need money to pay for welfare, to pay for a police state, to pay for illegal aliens, to give a decent retirement to valuable members of our society (anyone but you). Big frogging surprise!

Just more weasel manipulation to force government single payer “healthcare” down Americans’ throats.

Obama Alinsky rule for radicals:

1. First you label your target like Obama during his first term, ago referring to the military retires as “Working-age Military Retirees”.

2. Then you state it is not fair for this class of people to get something.

3. Then you attack... This is call Class Warfare....

I just retired in June. I already pay a monthly fee for Tricare Prime. Plus I have deductibles and partial payment for prescriptions (depending on where I get them).
