Syria's President Bashar al-Assad Monday called for a battle against Wahhabism, the political and religious ideology embraced by the Saudi government, a key backer of the uprising against his regime.
The comments came amid ongoing tensions between the two countries, which are fiercely opposed to each other.

This proves zero is supporting the wrong side. Well, the wrong side for the USA anyway, maybe not HIS wrong side.
Supporting Wahhabi’s as US policy long predates Obama.
Yes, you're right.
And I wasn't excited about the prior foreign policy either.
President Putin put a brake on western meddling in Syria. Otherwise the US would have been bombing Christians in Syria.
I am very curious as to how Jordan has remained silent amongst all this turmoil.
Saddam Hussein was a major anti-Wahhabi activist and pro-Christian too. He has fought Iranian theocracy before anyone else either. How he was punished for a 9/11 performed by known Saudi Wahhabis is beyond any sane logic. Not to mention his demise gave way to power for said Saudi-backed Wahhabis in Iraq.
Saddam Hussein was provably involved in the anthrax attacks which followed 9/11. That likely has something to do with it.
Saw an interesting take on who Mystery Babylon was on Youtube the other day. Sorry I don’t have the link. It’s Mecca, they think.
Heck, Obama would have likely sent in gaystapo shock troopers to behead them in person.
“This is for meth dealer Matthew Shepard!!!!”
This is a Threat Matrix list documenting threats within and without. Anyone wanting on or off please advise.
I think Saudi’s real beef , which Syria is a part of via Irans support, is they are scared crapless Iran will get their wish and take over as the head honchos of the Middle East.
The Iranians and Saudi’s continue to use their brands of Islam to control the mindset of the people when in reality it’s all about the oil revenues and the power that that revenue welds in retaining the leadership they both covet in the Middle East.
They know, with the way the world governance is moving, that the Muslim Leadership will have a seat at the table of the World Governance....Iran and Saudi Leadership are in a power struggle to attain that.
Iran has Russia backing, as we know, Saudi had ours until we yielded to Osama’s gripe and moved a large part of our military off Saudi land sometime back. There was a definate “shift” at that time.
So without US backing they really have nothing more than their “terrorist” thugs....they will not send their own military to fight. Saudi has always used the underlings of their nation and others like the Palestinians to fight their fights...all in the name of their Allah...which moves the people to do so. They have limited military and have to depend as well on the Emerits etc. So they have to have backing or they are helpless.
No. It was the saudis.
The thing is, neither one can be allowed to succeed. A major surprise is in the works. Two prongs. iran and the saudis will both pay dearly.
Recall I mentioned how many of the International Meetings over the last couple years have been hosted by Russia...take note not the US nor the UN.
Russia will use the ME nations when the time comes and why he's playing now in their ballpark as he is. ..including one against the other, depending on which best suites Putin's purposes.
Never underestimate Putin...he is more than a shrewd operator....but his intentions are as diabolical as ever in the long run. For that he'll be eventually defeated once leaders recognize his intentions....for now they are playing his game.
Just read of killings in Iraq of Christians again....anyone who thinks the Islamists aren't intent on their so called Holy War has their head in the sand...and nation leaders pretty much have their heads sunk deep currently.
